NOTES:
Doesn't get more straight-forward than this.
There's been a lot of talk that Air needs a mass buff card, here it is.

Functions the same as Nightfall | Eclipse, but instead of buffing Darkness and Death creatures it buffs airborne creatures.

Yes the art is the same as another one of my cards, but this one is here to stick around.

The Phantom Tollbooth is my favourite novel!! :)

That said, is it stackable or does it hold the same mechanics as Eclipse?

Same mechanics as Nightfall | Eclipse. Thanks I should mention that in the notes.

i think doldrums might not be a good name for this

maybe something more like "jet stream"

only reason i say that is

"The Doldrums, also called the "equatorial calms", are the calms and light baffling winds"

not exactly an area air creatures would want to be in

Edit: on a side note doldrums gives me an idea for a lime card it would either restrict cards both players could lay per turn or be like a 2-3 turn silence that silences you and your opponent

I see no reason to not make them stack.

So, why not? :)

hooray a way to improve my ffq deck (which is 100% airborne)

Light and baffling gave me the idea of "invigorating" as opposed to an area of impending doom. Meh, if more people are opposed to the name a poll will appear.

Poll posted for its ability to stack. c:

stacking will make Rol/Hope decks even scarier, two of these and its as good as a filled board of fireflies, eep

When you  take Nightfall/Eclipse into consideration, it shouldn't be stacked.

Also, keep the name, it sounds cool.

I wouldn't actually find that scary.
You would need two of them to actually accomplish anything in most FG battles (Most have 2 damage blocking), besides dimension shield. Plus, you'd either be forcing your deck to become much (towers+doldrum) or running it off your mark (Losing the aether quantum)

im sure people could get enough quanta for fractal without the mark

For some reason I had left out "borne" from "airborne" the entire time and thought that it only affected Air creatures o.O""

I'm not too sure whether or not stack-ability would warrant a cost increase; there are a surprising amount of airborne creatures out there...

When Hyroen and I were discussing this card, we talked about what to do for the upped one. We felt that adding +2 boost to photons was iffy, because now you can fractal free 3 attack creatures.

However, I think the idea of changing the boost to +2 instead would be preferable to making it stack. One reason for this is so that it functions the same way as nightfall. Another is that making it stack is probably worse for the photon issue than upping the boost to +2 would.

So I think an option for the upped one is to follow eclipse and up the cost to 4 and the boost to +2|+0.

I personally am a fan of the multiple thematic paths :air Air can take. I figured a reduction in play cost would fit with its "fastplay" type of game, however if anyone would like to recommend ideas for the upgraded version feel free to.

Ideas mentioned between QuantumT and I were the following:

Pardon the double-post but I just wanted to mention I'm submitting this card to the Crucible.

Thank you in advance to all supporters. ^_^

I'm still against the name because the doldrum also known an the calm belt is a place that didn't have much of an effect on flying things. The only thing the calm belt really effects are ships that use sails because there is little to no wind in the calm belt.

"The Doldrums—the region's light, shifting, and sometimes completely absent winds—are notorious for trapping sailing ships for days (or even weeks) without enough wind to power their sails."

So even though the little to no wind wouldn't affect the air creatures I cant see it helping them either.

Other than the name its still a great card.

i'd take out the "the" in the card image.

The wording was chosen so that it's the same as Nightfall.
