Not quite. If you put some unbalanced cards into the game, people would try to find ways to counter its effect (guess what? by using their creativity), and people who creates cars would create new effects that weren't in the game before with the objective of fighting these unbalanced cards, but these effects would also be useful for other purposes (creativity again!).

It is possible that I'm wrong. But I think this is pretty much how it works in Magic the Gathering.

Had an idea. What if the explosion only effects creatures on the same side as the target creature. Another option would be to link the damage dealt to the targets maximum life so that a creature with some moderate / average number of hp will cause 3 damage while a cat or photon deals 0 or 1. This would certainly prevent a good deal of the abuse... although combined with basilisk blood and voodoo dolls.... *gets wicked gleam in eyes*. At any rate, it would force a bit more creativity and synergy to be effective.
Whether the glass is half full or half empty is a moot point. It is always filled to the brim. It is only a matter of by what. The real question is: What fills you?

i had considered having it only effect the side which exploded, but i liked the synergy with setting up your own creatures to die, such as a virus, rather than just having to kill an opponents creature to get a worthwhile effect.

Sorry to arrive late to the party -- But I really like this card idea and wanted to comment on the Schroedinger's cat thing.

Another option would be to actually kill the cat. This introduces another take on the cat's on-click death effect that gives it a little more give and take.

First thought: this could be used with Voodoo Dolls and Mitosis or Fractal (for more dolls that the 3 damage is dealt to).
Second thought: a deck with Poison or Arsenic for damage, using Bone Wall, Virus, and this (used on the viruses) to stall.

What happens, when the target Rewinds, I know it's not taking damage, but when it comes back and die (I think not, but it's good to know (Shard golem remembers too).)? Does it removes invisiblity (it should as the others)?

And I've got and idea of delaying the target creature using it's skills till the end of your turn. That gives the opponent an opportunity to solve the situation and could be combined with Schrödinger cat too, without being OP.

I like this card unupped version better than upped (Woodoo  :D ). :D

The self nerf "does not work on the cat" is why this card won't have my vote, sadly, cause I really like it.
I don't like the idea of having cards that work when X and Y and not Z or W... I like simple wording that though of everything.

"If target creature takes lethal damage" could be a better wording. Also, it wouldn't trigger on Oty who, when you think about it, doesn't really leaves a corpse to explode with.

im sorry you feel that way- but this is set up *exactly* like aflatoxin.  when the cat is inflicted with aflatoxin, and uses its ability, it does *not* trigger a malignant cell.  as such, when a cat is inflicted with corpse explosion, and it uses its ability, it will *not* explode.  it would be horribly, horribly misused and abused if the cat could trigger explosions every turn.  also, you contradict yourself and your reasoning for not voting for it when you say "oh, it wouldn't trigger on Oty, who, when you think about it, doesn't really [leave] a corpse to explode"

also, "if target creature takes lethal damage" does not fit in with the established diction in the game, "target creature dies" is more concise and in line with what is already established.
