Odd question: if the card is healed to keep it from dying, will its attack start to go negative if the ability keeps getting used.

Hmmm.... Good question. But... isn't that interesting? overuse would cause harm to yourself... pretty much like the real copycat...

I know that everyone is looking at the ability... but does no one have a problem with a 5 | 5 in Aether for only 2 ?  Elite Cockatrice has the same stats, no ability, and costs 3 - plus, it isn't in the same element as Fractal.

No, really, the costs are balanced... maybe, just remove the ATK reduction and set the ATK of both cards to 2 or 3.

Hmm, you do have a point on the stats, they should probably be lowered a bit... at least the attack damage anyway...
As for being in element with fractal, this is actually a good thing since fractal depletes all when used, it will actually be harder to spam not easier.

Or 0? Or 1? In the end to copy a card is quite a strong ability...

I think making it 3 for both would work well. This puts the unupped on par with water's blue crawler and the upped version with life's elite cockatrice. The current 2 for a 3|3 will overshadow life's frog card which is already tough enough being a 3|3 vanilla, adding a very strong ability on top is a little too much I think.

I suggest dropping attack, raising cost further would cause it to step on psions toes

It is slightly OP, still.  Attack power should be dropped to 1 or 2, and the copy penalty changed to -0/-1.
