Nice idea, but it is too similar to Mindgate for my taste... The playing cost should be also higher (it can target anything, even cards in your opponent's hand, so it's effect is much more powerful than Mindgate).

I agree that it should cost more for duplicating cards... what about 5 ? Will it be too expensive? or 4 ?

I'm talking about the unup version, the up version would be unup - 1  ...

Glad to see so many idea with the copycat~ I like Cheshire Cat the most in that list, it's cool.

I just got another idea, what if we make it that way:

At the start, Copycat get like 3|3, and for each copy, it gains -1/-1
To avoid OP.... and make it more fun to play?

well since it's an aether card you can easyly quint it result to an unkillable copymachine for dim shields for example, OP for aether IMO, also the test say"...of the target card", i'd will say permanent 'cause also creatures are cards.

I see your points... It's aether simple because it feels like aether... like fractal and duality... in its function.

And it can target all the cards, including permanents, spells and creatures as long as they are in hand.

To make it less powerful, I'm thinking about making it more vulnerable as its life decrease every time you use the "copy" skill. Therefore, even if it was immaterial, it would die soon. And to use blessing / heal /... to keep it alive, you should not make it immaterial.

i like this solution but i'm kinda skeptical that will ever exist a card that can make a copy of everything.

Considering the limited hitpoints on the card and the -1|-1 cost for using the ability. Since it targets cards in hands it is quite distinct from mindgate. While this makes it more flexible the trade off is that, being a creature rather than a permanent, it will be much easier to counter than mindgate. Even if you cast quint on it, it still has to deal with shields and will eventually kill itself off if overused... compare that to enchanted mindgate which is unstoppable short of quanta denial. I think it is fairly well balanced as it is.

Odd question: if the card is healed to keep it from dying, will its attack start to go negative if the ability keeps getting used.
