At first: "Yay! A card with my name on it!"
Suddenly, phoenix. *okay*
cough cough ahem. Whose name is on it?

In my opinion the key difference is that phoenix costs exactly right for use with "immolation", and can be easily immolated and reborn
I can only think of very situational advantages of using unupped Seraph to unupped phoenix

Pros of unupped Seraph:
   High damage (to cost ratio)
untargetable to CC after turn 1
Can be buffed again (after the waiting period) and then reimmortalized

Pros of unupped Phoenix
   High damage (to cost ratio)
   easily rezzed
easily played with quanta from a single immolation
   useful to immolate
   can be buffed
monocolor cost (vs duo with light

btw is Seraph airborne? assuming yes because of wings in the epic art.
You can't play Phoenix from a single immolation.

Seraph is airborne.

Furthermore, you CANNOT buff Seraph and then shield it again it UNLESS you allow your opponent another turn to slay it, which is probably not what you were going for. The immaterial status lasts until the end of your next turn, but it fades slightly allowing you to reactivate the ability. It is still immaterial at this time however. If you're going to buff it, it's probably best to do it BEFORE you shield it the first time. Just thought I'd clarify this in case anyone misunderstood.

I see no problem with this card, but other elements (especially those counted weak, or lacking cards) need too.
Will fire receive a shard?

Yes, it will recieve a shard.

I like that this card can be buffed the first turn its out. Synergises well with blessing. It may not be able to constantly be buffed, but thats fine with me.

Well, yours is the English version.   :))

Yes, it does have some differences from the phoenix, but it still occupies the same niche.  I can imagine myself saying: "Hey, I think I need a semi immortal creature with a good attack. Wait, what? There are two of them?"
And even if one says that the seraph is only good for a fire-light duo, one can just use a phoenix there instead and still get almost the same effect.

I think It would be fine with a very little buff

:light : Divine Shield + Heal yourself 2 HP.

Or maybe:

:light : : Divine Shield + Add  2 to your maximum health.

Or:

:light : : Divine Shield + Small chance of getting a RoL in your hand.

[23:24:52] zanzarino: It was not intended to introduce new mechanics for the fire element, no need for that at this point, just a bit of variety and a great piece of art.

Just thought i'd quote it here.

Well.  I've finally gotten the time to sit down and try this thing and I have to say that I like it a lot.  It adds an extra flavor to Cremation rushes that's been lacking for a while due to an absence of decent new material to work with.  The extra splash of variety is exactly what I was looking for from Fire's rumored latest addition.

Sometimes I would just like to know why zanz decides things like this. I bet all Fire fans were wanting after all this time was this: a great piece of art, lol.

This is a waste. A card like most elements would love to have, and it comes to Fire, that already have Phoenix. Sad. Add a vanilla to fire then and let another element have this skill. And I think this is a card that would be better with a cost reduction in upgraded form. The way it is, just takes the place of the Dragon (already not very used, now completely dead, even if you dont use  :light in the deck).
