Title: WoE Alpha - Map Feedback
Post by: Scaredgirl on April 16, 2011, 12:40:25 pm
>> CLICK HERE TO OPEN MAP << (https://docs.google.com/present/view?id=dfwpg9vh_10fsvh8p83)

This is the map we will be using for alpha #2. As you can see, we are now using the full map (not the half-map we used in alpha #1). Each element has two players, making the total number of players 26.

The map is actually a Google Docs Presentation. The image of the map is a background image, and elemental icons are regular images that I can move around using drag-and-drop. All changes made will be instantly and automatically updated on Google's servers. This method is 100 times better and easier than what I used in alpha #1, and I'm very happy about it because it saves a lot of time.

WoE alpha #2 will start in a couple of days.

EDIT: fixed a bug in the link.

The map is just something I made a long time ago. It will see some changes. Only permanent things are capital city locations. Everything else is subject to change.

Here are so changes that will most likely happen:

- Omnitron and Outlaw City will trade places
- middle lake and boat to hex 86
- west lake and boat to hex 49
- more terrain to south-west
- Camel will be buffed to move 1 extra hex
- Stallion will be buffed to more one extra hex
etc.

Observation (posting them here, just for fun):

-Boats need to be replace, or the skill needs to be remade. I'd still move the bottom-left boat. A lake under a volcano?

How will the icons look in the actual thing? If there are more people, I can't imagine fitting ten icons in a single hex, if a lot of people are at a capital city for example.

Also, I believe there is a mistake in hex 131, as geyser is not spelled geysir.

Otherwise, it looks pretty epic, even if a few minor changes are necessary.

Fix added in the first post.

This map it just for alpha. The final version will look different and won't be using Google Docs.

Geysir is what the Icelandic people call it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geysir

25 people have signed up for alpha. If any of the previous testers hasn't signed up but would like to participate, let me know. Thanks.

Further notes:

Rename the darkness towns into darkness towns, not death towns.
Fish.

Actually the towns will have unique names.

By the way, how do we know which of us is #1 token, and which of us is #2?

What are the little stars by one of Air's mountains, and the volcano to the left of Gravity?

EDIT: And the hex in the bottom left corner.

Mysterious monster has been spotted in hex 61.
I see some weird critter on hex 71 while hex 61 is empty.
And strangely enough, the :light players moved from hex 140?
Ahh, i see everyone was moved outside their capital

Stars indicate a hex where you can take a new quest. More information about that during round 3. Also, I will probably change that symbol later.

I noticed the Round list shows 1 city and 2 towns for UW.  I'm assuming Outlaw City is the city but I'm not fully clear on which 2 towns UW has.  I'm guessing Grid 75 is one of them, but where is the other one?

There are none actually. I'll fix that for round 3. Thanks.
