Most of my old friends have already moved on, and while I fondly remember the late night conversations with MatrimKK and ~Napalm and such, that's just not something I'm ever going to be able to find again here. Events and War lost their fun, and became just another obligation. The game has been stagnant for a very long time now, and there's nothing to suggest anything will change soon. Almost all of the recent PvP events are either stale concepts or these weird RPG-type things that I never really liked even outside of EtG. I never liked the concept of Brawl, and while it has greatly improved to a quite reasonable event it's just not something I'll probably ever be interested in.
This is something I've noticed for quite a while, basically shortly after War began. I quickly discovered that the old thrill was gone, and I just began to lose interest. I meant to delay this until War and PvPWC were over, but as a result I put little effort into both and thus let everyone involved (especially my war team) down. I deeply apologize to all of them. With several other things going on in my life, the least of which being that college is rapidly approaching, it's become clear to me that I can no longer devote any meaningful amount of time to the game.
As is typical of farewell posts, there are many people I'd like to point out as being great friends in the community, but there are too many to mention. ji412jo and ddevans96, however, stood out. Back when I was still able to take War seriously, these were the two major people that made it fun. Many of the old veterans, e.g. ~Napalm, MatrimKK, willng3, TStar, Onizuka, RR, and so on (the usual suspects) were also great fun to hang around. Of course, this post wouldn't be complete without mentioning TheonlyrealBeef
. But overall, this truly is a great community. Every online community will have its share of trolls and general bad apples, but on this site they were so rare that I often forgot they even existed. There's not a single member I can think of off the top of my head who I dislike (and there are many that I strongly strongly disliked but improved dramatically throughout their time here. You can probably guess a couple of them
).
If I ever do return, it will almost certainly not be on this account. Though everything has gotten stale for me at the moment, in the (probably unlikely) event that anything substantial changes I'd prefer to be able to experience it without the stigma of the "old guy". I hope that admins can appreciate this and won't ban me on sight if I ever show up on a different account. If not, then this will be my last post on these forums. I might log in once in a while to see if I have any messages (but seriously, if you send me a message after I say I'm permanently leaving, that's a little odd
) and to check if there's any huge release or something, but other than that I'm essentially done.
