OK,so the new Oracle now
always predicts the next False God you might fight. This opens up a huge opportunity for newbies to get a chance at upgraded cards on a regular basis, but of course, the definition of a newbie is that you don't have access to a lot of cards.
Thus, this thread: a study of exactly which cards you want to purchase *first* if you want to have the best chance at winning upgraded cards earliest.
See, many of the FGs have the same weaknesses -- several are vulnerable to some variation of mono-Aether, a few are vulnerable to some variation of Nymphomania, etc. But which decks offer the BEST chance at winning cards from an FG right off the bat?
Here is the list of specific decks vs. specific gods. (
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,20701.0.html) What follows here is simply the optimal order in which to buy the cards in order to win the most games with the least investment.
Here's the rough breakdown:
With these 30 cards:

61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61q 61q 61q 61q 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61t 61v 61v 61v 61v 61v 61v 8pu
You'll have a fighting chance against Dark Matter, Destiny, and Lionheart.
That's pretty damn good for a single unupped deck.
But it gets better. Add just a few more:

592 592 592 592 592 61o
And you add Seism and Jezebel to your kill list.
Jezebel doesn't have an unupped deck on the List&Links thread above, but I made her and I know her weaknesses.
The unupped deck to use against her is this one:

592 592 592 592 592 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61q 61q 61q 61q 61v 61v 61v 61v 61v 61v 8pm
The key is to use your first PA on your own Aether Towers (so she doesn't steal them and turn them into nasty 8/4 attackers), then your second on HER Quantum Pillars, then your third on her Water Pillars. That pretty much jacks up her entire deck. Use your Lightnings to kill off her early attackers, and your Phase Dragons should beat her down before whatever few Nymphs she pops get to you. You generally will lose if she gets out an early Permafrost+Dagger combo, but the winrate is very good for an unupped+rareless deck.
Eight more:

And you can take on Neptune (as well as slightly improve your chances against Lionheart.)
And just five more --

-- and you can take out Scorpio as well.
The next step is slightly smaller, but only slightly.
Snag yourself another seven cards:

To put Hecate on your hitlist, and just four more:

To add Hermes.
Already, you can build the unupped/no rares decks that will give you the best possible shot against 8 gods: Dark Matter, Destiny, Hecate, Hermes, Lionheart, Neptune, Scorpio, and Seism. All of them are basically variations on a theme: "Dimension Shield kicks ass."
Now, it's time to go for a larger step away from that central theme, but still keep it fairly straightforward.
Purchasing these cards:

Will put Elidnis, Fire Queen, Ferox, and Miracle within your reach, and adding just a few more:

Also puts Morte on your hitlist. We're up to 13 FGs -- a third of the total list -- and only 80 cards purchased, for a total of 3,269 electrum. At this point, you should be able to start counting on winning 1 or 2 upped cards each week just from farming the FGs that the Oracle tells you about.
The next step, however is a big one, and I'll save it for later -- for now, this is the optimal route for a new player to start consistently winning upgraded cards.
