Improving game play against False Gods https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=3112.msg26616#msg26616

Right now, FG receive 3 quanta per turn instead of 1 from their mark and draw two cards per turn.  While this certainly makes them difficult, it also leads to steamrolling.  The FG come out of the starting blocks so fast that games can be lost in only a few turns.  This is not only frustrating, but it also not entertaining.  The other problem with this is that it forces you to start every game from a defensive strategy.  The goal is often to simply survive the first 7-8 turns.

I haven't put that much thought into this, but I think the games would be more entertaining and interesting if the FG simply had stronger creatures rather than being given a huge advantage at the start of the game.  One option would be simply to give the FG super upgraded creatures, with +1 or +2 attack and defense.  Another option may be to give the FG a "God Creature" card that would be similar to an "Eclipse" and once played it would add to the attack and hp of all the FG's creatures.  You could have a "God Shield" card that added +1 to the FG's shield.  Perhaps these options could be combined with limited the FG to draw only 1 card for the first 5 turns.  This would lead to more mid to late round wins by the FG instead of the 5-6 turn steamrolling lose that you often get now.

The goal here isn't to make the FG easier to beat, just make the games more interesting.  Any thoughts?

In that case, let's focus on measures that would achieve just that  ;)

Your suggestions, while interesting, would greatly reduce the strength of the gods. They already suffer pretty harsh handicaps from being played by a sub-par AI and the player knowing every aspect of the deck the instant they see the name of their opponent. +1 (or even +3) to creatures stats or shields wouldn't matter much, since they don't really keep the standard rainbow godkiller from establishing dominance with a Bone Wall and a Giant Otyugh (ok, so maybe they would need one or two extra spells to establish it on the board but not nearly enough to really hinder them).

My suggestion to make the False Gods more interesting: Increase the versatility of their advantage. Why does each one of them have the same triple mark/double draw/200 HP bonus? Wouldn't it be cool, if the kind of advantage would be tailor-made for each god? Maybe you start against More with only 50 HP. Maybe Rainbow starts the game with 2 of each quanta. In exchange, some of the other boni could be dropped.

I actually really like Silkenfist's suggestion.  Also, without(hopefully) what may sound like excessive whining, some of the gods just seem too difficult.  Divine Glory and Rainbow come to mind as the most difficult ones.  Different bonuses, depending on how they would be implemented, could maintain the difficulty level and vary playing styles/strategies.  Eh, just my 2 Electrum

The flaw with the gods is that everyone has the exact same deck strategies.  The difficulty doesn't lie in their deck, but their double draw and other stuff.  This cannot be fixed until more cards are added, the rare bug fixed, and generally the game expands more.  Eventually, an octane deck, which relies on nymphs and rare weapons, will be really uncommon and hard to do and impressive.  But that will only happen when there are more non-rare decks.  Until then, the gods are going to wind up being rather cookie cutter.  Sorry =(
