When Captain America throws his mighty shield, all that oppose it must yield! Can yours be cooler? Link to the monthly leaderboard. This is what voting's for. This week's goal was to Design a card that uses a new status effect! Let's see how our entrants have managed!
As a reminder: Vote in any way you deem fit, as long as you can justify it. You are encouraged to discuss the cards on this thread.
If you want to vote based on the best status effect, ignoring the card, then that's fine.
If you want to ignore the design limitations entirely, and just vote on the best card, that's also fine.
If you want to vote on yourself, you're a scumbag, but that's fine. (It's probably recommended you do. We can't stop you.)
Remember to look at the score table for the amount of points people will be given!
We're at 11, which means 4 points for first, 3 for second, 2 for third, 1 for fourth!
Spoiler for Score Table:
Amount of people | Points given/scored |
3 | 1 point for first. |
4-6 | 2 points for first, 1 point for second. |
7-8 | 3 points for first, 2 second, 1 third. |
9-11 | 4 points for first, 3 second, 2 third, 1 fourth. |
12-13 | 5 for first, 4 2nd, 3 3rd, 2 4th, 1 5th. |
14-16 | 6 for first, 5 2nd, 4 3rd, 3 4th, 2 5th, 1 6th. |
And to remind you how many votes you get, we use the same system as crucible. We're at 11 entries, which means 2 votes!
0-2 - No voting allowed.
3-6 - 1 vote
7-12 - 2 votes
13-17 - 3 votes
18-25 - 4 votes
26-32 - 5 votes

ART: |
| IDEA: |
| NOTES: | I always think that the opposite of Airborne in this game is Burrowed since Airborne creatures are high above the ground surface while Burrowed creatures are deep below the ground surface. Thus, I think that if there's a Shield that can only be bypassed by Airborne creatures, why don't I make its counterpart?

Spoiler for 3.Focus Shield (Submachine):
| |
NAME: | Focus Shield
| ELEMENT: | Gravity
| COST: | 5
| TYPE: | Permanent
| TEXT: | Shield: reduce damage by 1. Attacking creatures get -1|+1.
|
| NAME: | Focus Shield
| ELEMENT: | Gravity
| COST: | 3
| TYPE: | Permanent
| TEXT: | Shield: reduce damage by 1. Attacking creatures get -1|+1.
|
|
NOTES: | Only those creatures are affected who are attacking through the shield, successfully damaging the user behind it. Text under shield when in play: decelerate. Antimattered creatures ignore this shield.
This card thematically fits with Gravity, because as gravity intensifies, all creatures who are affected will feel slower and heavier. Since all shields have a small one-word text under their slots in-game, i chose 'deceleration', because the effect is the opposite of Acceleration's.
The in-element Gravity Shield grants a possible synergy with the card, though this synergy would be the first which incorporates 2 different shields. The card also works as a standalone card in any gravity deck; damage reduction alone is something that gravity didn't have so far, but with deceleration, it slowly adds up.

| NOTES: | I got the idea for this card from a yugioh card (Just the name) the actual effect came from a balancing idea for the effect, and the fact that when you throw things at a mirror, they bounce off.

| ATK|HP: |
| TEXT: | Shield. When a creature you control attacks, gain 1 maximum HP.
|
|
ART: |
| IDEA: | theelkspeaks
| NOTES: | This card is designed to be a shield that feels very much like the element - it tries to win by outlasting the foe via sheer volume of living things! Bonus synergy with adrenaline is another thing that makes this card strong. Life already has healing from Staves/SoG/Heal, but sometimes fails to have enough room to use its massive sustain.

| IDEA: |
| NOTES: | Just a simple idea. In astronomy Syzygys refer to straight lines formed by bodies under gravitational interaction, so the shield would be putting your creatures between you and the incoming creatures.

Spoiler for 10.Boomerang Shield (Treldon):
| |
NAME: | Boomerang Shield

|
| NAME: | Boomerang Shield
| ELEMENT: | Earth
| COST: | 5
| TYPE: | Permanent
| ATK|HP: | 6|8 (when flying)
| TEXT: | Shield: reduce damage by 2 Flying Shield: Boomerang Shield becomes a creature with 6|8 for 1 turn
|
|
ART: | -
| IDEA: | Treldon (and Stan Lee I guess...)
| NOTES: | So basically it is a simple shield with the added ability to temporarily become a creature, for those cases when you need just a bit more damage.
When flown, it becomes a creature, in that time it does not negate any damage. On your next turn it returns to the shield slot (replacing any shield occupying the slot). On the turn after that you can throw it again.
If it was delayed in that time it will remain a creature for the duration of the delay.
