[ChotM #5]: Average it out! https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=60637.msg1216667#msg1216667
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:59:07 am »

I wonder if the logic of Composite Portraiture applies to card ideas.

Welcome to the Weekly Card Design Challenge! Each week, the Curators will host a card design challenge with a certain theme or gimmick; for the rest of the week, your goal is to design the best card you can that works with the challenge! Once that week is up, a new weekly challenge will start and the current challenge will go into the Voting Phase! The winners of each poll will be awarded points; your current score can be found on the Monthly Leaderboard!

Each month, the top 1-3 players on the Monthly Leaderboard will get a cool award icon, depending on the number of people that participated.

Spoiler for Score Table:
Amount of peoplePoints given/scored
31 point for first.
4-62 points for first, 1 point for second.
7-83 points for first, 2 second, 1 third. 7 gives 2 votes.
9-114 points for first, 3 second, 2 third, 1 fourth.
12-135 for first, 4 2nd, 3 3rd, 2 4th, 1 5th. 12 gives 3 votes.
14-166 for first, 5 2nd, 4 3rd, 3 4th, 2 5th, 1 6th.

BONUS: Being the final challenge of a month, ChotM's give two more points to anyone who would get points!

This week's challenge is to Make a card that is combined from at least two previous WC winners!

Spoiler for Specific Rules:
Spoiler for All the winners thus far:

Spoiler for All the winners thus far without screen stretching:

You may find all WCs here:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/exhibition-hall/

Pick at least two of the cards above. Your card must either work with or counter them.
You can work or counter in any combination.
State which cards are being countered or worked around.
Your card can be in a different element and be a different card type than the cards you're building around.

Your card can and will be judged based on how well they do their job in countering/working with your choses cards.

Don't put art in your card. Don't submit more than one card. Submit the upgraded and unupgraded.
Submit your ideas in this thread - whether you make a separate thread for your card idea for Cygnia is up to you.

We are in the Voting Phase! There are Very lonely eggs. Good luck!

SUBMISSIONS:

Spoiler for 1. Relinquishment (Flayne) {Butterfly Effect | Here and now}:

NOTES:

- Does NOT replace opponents hand, opponent effectively remains card-less.
- Sacrifices YOUR hp per card shuffled
- ALL card drawing abilities (sundial, hourglass, etc.) are disabled for one turn.
NOT card drawing in general, both players draw cards normally at the start of their turns but cannot use card drawing abilities.

This card combines the mechanics of Butterfly Swarm with a twist,  along with a part of "Here & Now"s effects.
The HP sacrifice is a new feature aimed at balancing the effects strong stalling power.

Because of the fact that this card is :death as well as its mechanic, it has significant synergy with not just Butterflies, Here & now, but also with an Owls Eye and a Meandering Stream.

Essentially, unless you can heal back easily,
abusing this card every time the opponent manages to recover their entire hand can be dangerous.
However in the case of SoS, the card will actualy heal you since it is still counted as self inflicted damage.

Card cost is 4 and 3 :death to help make it a bit harder to use with just a simple :death mark and a :life or :light deck.
However, a combination between :time (ironically)  and :death with this card can create quite a strong card stagnation effect.

TEXT:
Sage of Ages gains +1|+1 for every card you draw

ART:

IDEA:
andretimpa
NOTES:
As time goes by, the Sage of Ages grows stronger.

This is intended to synergise with 'Action' (unupgraded) and 'River Stream', while being a soft counter to 'Focus Shield'. As a bonus this card is greatly weakened by 'Here & Now' and completely countered by 'Reaction' (upgraded Action).

Of course, in the current card pool, it is intended to be used together with :time 's heavy draw power, as well as SoB

Cards used:

Spoiler for Action (works together):

Action causes the Sage to gain +2|+2 for each drawn card.

Spoiler for River Stream (works together):

Pretty straightforward, as the Sage synergises with any drawing effects.

Spoiler for Focus Shield (counters):

Since you'll be drawing one card most of the turns, if you leave the Sage alone it will get a net +0|+2 every turn, so you can shrug the shield off if you can buff the Sage (if coupled with hourglasses and all the draw power of :time , Focus Shield becomes a minor annoyance)

Bonus cards:

Spoiler for Hidden:
Spoiler for Reaction (countered by):

If your opponent has one of these your Sage will debuff itself and eventually die

Spoiler for Here & Now (soft countered by):

Without draw power your Sage gets considerably weaker, slowing down the damage race considerably.

Spoiler for 3. Centrifugal Force (Submachine) {Focus Shield | Action}:
NAME:
Centrifugal Force
ELEMENT:

COST:

TYPE:

ATK|HP:

TEXT:
You get +1 to your weapon damage for every 5 HP that your opponent's creatures have in total. Can't be stolen.
NAME:
Centrifugal Force
ELEMENT:
Gravity
COST:
2 :gravity
TYPE:
Permanent
ATK|HP:

TEXT:
You get +1 to your weapon damage for every 4 HP that your opponent's creatures have in total. Can't be stolen.

ART:

IDEA:
Submachine
NOTES:
It affects all the player's weapons both in the weapon slot and on the field. It does not affect Crusaders.
It does not stack, similarly to Nightfall. The upgraded card's effect simply overwrites the unupped's effect if they are both
played, similarly to Nightfall.
If someone attempts to Steal it, the card is simply destroyed. This is to prevent a huge backfire, because gravity's creatures have huge HP.

The card works together the best with the Focus Shield + Action combo. Focus shield not only gives more HP to all opponent creatures, but also reduces their attack. Action doubles the speed of the process. They are all in the same element, which grants even smoother synergy.

Spoiler for Focus Shield:
Spoiler for Action:

Soft-counter to Fractal. Any counter to Fractal deserves some love. <3

Spoiler for 4. Magnetic Pull | Magnetic Pull (Espithel) {Antlion Queen | Shale Stone Aegis}:
NAME:
Magnetic Pull
ELEMENT:

TEXT:

NOTES:
This builds with antlion queen, whilst countering various nasties should as graboid and shale stone aegis.

It should be a gravity card, but it's an earth card because antlion queens.

CURATOR COMMENT
This card has insufficient data for me to make a card image of.
Until its element, card type, and ATK | HP is disclosed, this card is incomplete, and thus can't be accepted.

NOTES:
"Card" means strategist/tactician.
They are both delayed for the HP of the card when used, damaging or killing the card wont make the effect end early, although killing the card will stop them from seeing your hand.
The card is only able to see the opponent's hand from its own effect, not any other sort of delay, but I couldn't fit that in.
The ability cost is darkness to represent an ambush/sneaky manoeuvre against the enemy.

The cards used were Graboid and Owl's eye, although there is also a touch of hailstorm, with the effect changing depending on health.

I tried doing what Flayne said last time, but whenever I went to the place on my computer where I stored the images to upload them to imgur, they weren't there.
Spoiler for Try this again:
On card image creator, once you are satisfied with the card, click on the "Save as PNG" button, save to location and check if they are there every time on your computer (go to file explorer/file searcher, directy).
If they are not, then try saving it again. If still not there, save the text on your card and reload the card image builder, paste, put icons, and try again.
Sometimes the site might time out or crash and not save anything.

Then you go to Imgur.com, click on upload images > Browse computer > make sure the window is looking for "custom files" or " Png files" depending on the computer/windows version/mac. then select them and load them. once uploaded, copy the image URL and past them into the appropriate field after clicking "post to forums" on the card creator. Then generate and copy the forum code and paste it in your reply.

When I open up file explorer and go to the folder I stored them in, they are there, where I put them. But when I select browse computer on imgur.com, they aren't there. It says on the search box that the supported images are".jpg .jpeg .png.gif .apng .tiff .tif .bmp .pdf .xcf .JPG .PNG". I don't how to get it to search for png or custom files.

Spoiler for There is another way:
Go to imgur.com, you will see there is an option to "Drag and drop here" You do not have to click it,
What you do is:

-1 Open you file explorer directly
-2 Find the file
-3 Drag the file with your mouse anywhere on the imgur page (when the window with the options is there)

Here is an example image of me dragging my file from my file explorer window directly, onto the imgur page ( you need to scroll to the right to see the full image)
You will see a big "UPLOAD" appear:

Spoiler for Example Image #1:

It will appear on the imgur table and you just click upload.

Spoiler for Example image #2, the end result:
