Wanted to use swallow against it, instead I realized I was using this deck:

I won but that wouldnt have been possible if I hadnt a parasite as pet and Eternal Phoenix hadnt fractaled ash instead of the phoenix.

The unupped Vulture Bone Wall deck works great! Got a Bone Wall out early enough for EM, but after 3 spins with 2 upped Fractals in each spin + 1 random card, i realized my luck isn't that great :(

I agree - just got an EM with fully upped PDials.  I've had much more consistent results with PDials than Bonestorm (and most people would likely get PDials before an upped boneyard in any case).  Reid4891's study with PDials had a 77% win rate - although that was in Oct of 2012, so the results might be a little different.   I'd only go with Bonestorm if you don't have the upped cards.

Without commenting on whether I think bonestorm or pdials is a better prediction option, note that in Oct '12, sosacs didn't cost death quanta to use, so EP's explosion spam wasn't able to prevent sosac the way it is now, so I wouldn't really consider that to be an accurate stat.

This deck takes advantage of something interesting I've noticed: Eternal Phoenix's AI is set to Fractal the lowest cost creature it will be able to play. This means, once you have Rays of Light out, you don't have to worry about massive damage from Phoenix Fractals. Just Quint + Shard its Dragons, and your shield does the rest. Also, works better with  :aether Nymphs.

Disclaimer: This deck isn't advertised as better than any other counter deck.

The problem with that deck is that, if it draws Rain of fire directly before Fractal or generally much CC early, it will fractal its phoenixes again, which would kill you.

What about (for an unupped deck) nightmare? I'm playing around with it in trainer but between the thunderbolts and explosions...
Maybe you'll have more luck than me.

Good guy Eternal Phoenix, gave me two Minor Phoenixes AFTER I upgraded 6 of them beforehand. :P

I'm using the Dry Spell/Boneyard deck from the OP.

Anyways, try to play the Boneyard only when you are ready to play a Dry Spell. I lost against him before when he destroyed my Boneyards before I can play the Dry Spell. Have the Bone Wall absorb EP's Explosions to protect your Boneyards since it can regenerate new shields back.

Annnnnd then you get the game where enemy rawdogs seven phoenixes, never plays Fractal or Dragon, and you're straight beat to death like it was nothing.

Good call.  That said, I've been 3/3 on oracle predictions using PDials.  Not valid stats by any means, but I'll happily keep on keeping track of them.

Update.  Well I just lost with PDials...  so 3/4.  It was an odd match where EP used 7 Explosions in the first 6 rounds.... and then fractaled and dumped four more phoenixes to get me just below 40 hp so I couldn't use SoSac....  damn RNG.

Yesterday I got Eternal Phoenix as prediction from the oracle and I check the strategy thread as usual, looking for a nice EM deck... Then I realized there isn't a really RELIABLE EM deck for this FG. So I start to think at possible solutions and I had an idea:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 4vj 77i 77i 77i 77i 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jp 7jq 7jq 7jq 7js 7jt 7jt 7jt 7jt 7k2 7k2 7k2 7th 7th 7th 7th 7th 8pq

Spoiler for Strategy:
1) KEEP AT LEAST one RoL in your hand until you can also play a nightmare on it
2) Play solar bucket only when you also have a PA
3) The idea is to fill the enemy's field with RoL which can't hurt you if you have your shield on and also they can provide you A LOT of  :light quanta

I'm sure this can be improved because i'm not very good at making decks, but I want to share it so maybe one of you can reach the perfect solution.

I did some game with this deck and I think the base idea is working, BUT:
_sometime it has problem because it doesn't do enough damage (maybe a SoP could be the solution?)
_early Ruby dragons are hard to handle (should I add a thunderbolt?)
_the  :light mark is not essential, maybe it can be changed in to some more useful element
_would be nice to find a way to draw more cards in order to have a bigger deck.

Please try this and help me to improve it. We need to find a way to find a reliable EM deck here!

Are the nightmares necessary? Won't the ai fractal the RoL anyway?
