That is the question... they have at least two Purify. If they use Immo Phoenix and throw one or two Purify in, who wins?
Do they still have immo Phoenix?

I expect them to play Scrambled Shriekers with a Purify splashed in against us this round.

http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16954.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16954.0.html) - ImmoPhoenix
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16878.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,16878.0.html) - Fire's Nova Graboids (sans the Scrambling, taking a discord is probably not possible for them. They would have to pay for it with Novas only, also taking them would be difficult because of the 1/2 Fire requirements)

Fire matches:

Okay so I've been thinking about this a lot and also chatting with jmdt a lot to try to get an idea of what they're using against us. He insists that they are using something new that we haven't seen before. I doubt it would be a total surprise, but I am inclined to believe that they are at least going to try to counter our previous successes.

Reverse Time is probably our best anti-Fire card, and they know it. But let's think long term ... we are definitely fighting them again next round, and probably several times again. Reverse Time isn't going anywhere. I am very against playing one RT deck and one poison deck, because I feel if they get the right matchups they could win. Instead, I would like to play two poison decks against Fire. I think they might counter one of them, but definitely not both. Probably we will go 1-1 against them this round as a result. Or maybe they can't counter it effectively and we go 2-0. Either is fine. 0-2 is not fine.

Zeru is currently assigned this:
Code: [Select]
4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 52q 52q 52r 52r 52r 52r 52r 718 718 718 718 718 718
I think we should instead do the following.

Zeru:

Code: [Select]
4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 52o 52o 52o 52o 52r 52r 52r 52r 52r 718 718 71a 71a 71a 7n2
Kurohami:

Code: [Select]
4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 4vp 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 50u 52o 52o 52o 52o 52o 52o 52q 52q 52q 52r 52r 52r 52r 52r

We can build both decks, and I think they both have enough CC to stop Fire's creatures long enough for poison to kill them. It is true that Fire may well play a rainbow (either Scrambled Shriekers or Immo Rush) and splash Purify in, but either of these decks can still beat a single-Purify easily -- and if they use 2 in one deck that means they don't have it in the other and we go 1-1.

Tell me what you guys think.

Extra comment:

I also wouldn't mind playing two RT decks against Fire this round. We have 8 Reverse Times, so we could build two Entropy creature rushes + 4 Reverse Times with Time Mark. However that will put pressure on our creature supply so most of the rest of our decks this round would have to be poison, Graboids and Darkness.

Okay then, I think I'm fine with playing two Poison. I only have one complaint: You absolutely can't play Animate Weapon against them. Decks like Immo-Phoenix are so chock-full of CC that they'll be happy for any creature, even if it has 7 HP. Zeru should probably just take a Chaos Seed instead, it's going to do the same as Pandemonium in many situations anyway, and only 4 Pandas could be a little too few.

This gives us a new plan for this round:

Fire: double-Poison

Air: Scrambled Shriekers (vagman), Nova-Darkness (me)

Life: Aether Stall (Amilir), Scrambled Shriekers (Nyma)

Death: Entropy-Time (a good deck against their Nova Graboids)

Gravity: Entropy-Fire

Underworld: Gravity-Rainbow

I'm pretty sure they expect ent/poison stall and Jmdt was hollering about how he had come up with a counter to it, it may not be a good choice to use it vs fire.

jmdt talks a lot every round, we know all the arguments, which decks are defeated by poison and which ones aren't, there is no optimal solution. We just have to make a final decision at some point, especially when there's only ~7 hrs left. Double poison should give us a decent chance.

I've updated the EDU with the decks I think we should play. I haven't updated the Salvage/Discard/Conversion yet to give more room for possible changes (and because I fear I might destroy the Spreadsheet if I did :-\), but there should only be some minor problems left.

Bluff. I would totally resort to bluff in their situation. Unless they have some very weird cards hidden in their vault, they are faking it.
The best solution they have is purify, and that is limited.

For future reference, don't assign any decks to me with Arsenic. I have spent 7 hours grinding top-50 with 5 farms up and from about 20 victories it gave me 1. I have no intention of having any more of my time wasted by bullshit spins, so my Arsenic supply is peaked at 4.
