I decided to try to settle the "best mono rush" question with this awesome tool, if only because the simulator seems better at playing rushes than stalls.

1000-game stats for 16 different mono rushes (and a rainbow):

EDIT: Now re-tested after the turn bug was fixed.

According to the simulator, mono-life is the fastest rush, but gravity has the highest winrate. At least, among the rushes I could come up with - there are probably ways to improve on most of these. :)

Is it too early to declare my vote for the best tool of 2012? Great stuff as always, Xeno.

YES.
Because there is one coming (hopefully) soon - one for speeding up the playtesting your own cards, which is already even more epic, imo.

WoW> When you say 'a while', how long do you mean?
Well, I had this idea in my head for months, but it only took a week or two to code.

Update

I added quanta to the output logs, and prettified it a bit.

Oh, and by the way ... you may want to redo any previous tests you've done with this, because there was an error in the turn-meter - it incremented turns after creatures attack rather than before. So. Whoops.

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone. :)
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

fantastic Xeno - very slick presentation of the tool and awesome results.

I do have a couple questions however - my results for the following deck for 500 games ranged from 7.08 - 7.87
Code: [Select]
5f2 5f2 5f2 6rl 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dg 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dp 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7dq 7ds 7ds 7ds 809 809 809 809This is currently the upped fastest deck in jmdt's speed study (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,8813.0.html) and has a human tested speed of 5.4 turns to win (in 200 games). Is the gap just because the ai is that much dumber even with such a simple deck? Or is there something else?

In addition - mesaprotector's tests with mono decks produced significantly faster numbers. Why might that be?

Is 500 - 1000 games not statistically significant enough to base assumptions on?
Is the AI really that stupid, that it can't play the above deck?
Or is something else going on that I'm missing?

Thanks for the tool and the time you invested in it!

Thanks for the kind words. :)

Yes, the AI plays that deck worse than a human does, but there is also something else that you're missing. The information in the thread you linked is from before the new AI3 decks were introduced. The new AI3 decks are generally taken to be significantly better than the old ones, so it's no wonder that deck performed so much worse than expected.

Oh, and mesaprotector's tests with mono decks were performed before I fixed that turn counter bug.

Lol. Does it mulligan?
It should mulligan. How many 0-cost cards did you have in the deck? Maybe it was just unlucky.
Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I suspect that it neither saves BLs for Cremations nor plays Cremations on MPs, making that slightly difficult to get accurate testing on with AI.
Years ago we had Ronald Reagan, Johnny Cash, Bob Hope, and Steve Jobs. Now we have Obama, no hope, no cash, and no jobs.
