Elements Radio Beta has gone LIVE !!!

Here's a temporary web page I have set up for Elements Radio. You can also listen it in chat page (it's embedded there).

The hard part is now over and the radio station has been installed. Now all I need to do is upload more songs, arrange playlists, and the player will play them automatically. It's pretty sweet.

The whole thing works just like a regular radio. Music is played 24/7 and everyone hears the same songs at the same time.

Right now there are about 30 royalty free songs I uploaded by random. During the new few weeks I will upload tons of music and arrange them to 12 different genres, with one genre playing for 1 hour at a time.

We also have a DJ system where anyone can "take over" the stream and play music/talk in real time. More information on that later.

Only downside to this is that the software that runs this whole thing cost $36 per year. I really tried to find a free alternative but one with a auto DJ and playlists just wasn't available. I will pay for the first year and maybe try to collect the cash with donations or something. If this radio becomes as awesome as I think it will, I don't think gathering $36 per year to run it will be a big problem.

Yes, we definitely need that. I'll try to find a goof flash player that does the job but it's not as easy as I had anticipated.

I'm also setting up a page which has information and links of all the artists.

I want a new Porsche but that's not going to happen either.

We have moved from a Flash player to AAC+ stream. This means:

- better sound quality
- less strain on server
- less bandwidth usage
- ability to have LIVE shows
- overall more professional solution

We are not going back to that old thing.

If your system is setup correctly, the radio will play without the need to install any plugins or anything like that.

Unfortunately about 5-10% may have some problems getting the radio working. This is because there's something wrong with your system. Most likely you either don't have any media players installed OR your browser doesn't know that you have a media player installed.

If you have problems, please REINSTALL ONE OF THE FOLLOWING MEDIA PLAYERS:

- Windows Media Player
- Realplayer
- Quicktime

If you do that, your browser will know what to do and the radio will work, 100% guaranteed.

Anyone who cannot get the radio working, please PM me or look me up in chat and I'll see what I can do.

Haha thought it was broken till I read about the media players. I'm on Ubuntu linux so one didn't come installed. I couldn't find quicktime for linux and WMP is definitely not for linux so I just got real player. I'm going to see if it work in a few minutes.

Actually I've changed the player to FLASH (.swf file) so now almost everyone should be able to hear the music. If you can play Elements (also flash), you should be able to hear Elements Radio.

Elements radio is the best idea someone could imagine for this game!!
The stream are pretty less bandwidth use and works fine in the Windows Media Player for me.
