If we can't upgrade later but have to choose now, what about asking the community if they'd want to buy the enterprise version? Just let ppl donate through paypal and see if chat users care enough to contribute and pay for it?
Donating all extra cash to Element game development is definitely better. I wouldn't want this chat project to take money out from that. Besides, I will include that ad we have there now, which will generate pennies and hopefully in time pay for the chat software we now buy.

The issue is not where to get the money, but whether or not getting the enterprise version is a smart move. We could use that extra money to buy something else, like some awesome commercial plugin for our server, or maybe just donate it to Elements development.

No word from the developer just yet. I will wait for a couple of more days.

Right, we're not sure if it's worth it. Which is why I was thinking we could let ppl vote with their cash. Do they really want those extra features or are they content to save the money?

Besides, right now most of that "extra cash" isn't going to EtG development either. If we're not going to raise it for the chat, perhaps we should go ahead and raise it for that "awesome commercial plugin"? In general people won't donate more unless they're asked and given a reason.
