Who needs a mute button... that's just a soft answer for a hard problem. Just give us the location of the culprit and a handy baseball bat and we can combat the problem in a more effective way.  Road trip anyone?

In Japan the organized crime called the Yakuza does a lot of punishment through mutilation. Gang members who screw up or enemy gang members have the end joints of their fingers cut off so people in public can recognize right away.

Frankly I never found this scary and it sounds lame compared to america where criminals just shoot and kill people.

Anyway, we could always snip off a few joint on the spammers hands, making it hard/painful to type...

and hes back again.  ibalance was talking in chat much like ninjaclone, then left, a guest came in and started spamming.

this chat room is a joke without mods hardly ever there.

There should be a cooldown after every line you enter. Like you have 5 cooldown points and you lose one everytime you hit enter. You gain one back after 10 seconds. If you have 0 cooldown points you cannot hit enter until you have at least one.

This would stop spammers a lot. But also there should be an autoban feature that kicks anyone who says more than 10 lines in a row... Maybe 24 hour ban first time, week ban the second and permanent ban after that.

I played on Heroes of Gaia where that kind of delayed chat system was in place. There was a 20-30 second delay, and even then, people found interesting ways to be generally annoying. More mods really is the best solution with a mute button a close second.

I guess the chat mods can't be on all the time, though I hardly ever see stuff like this. Maybe you guys are just on at the right time to catch all the bored kids with nothing better to do?
