I know I'm not the only one with this problem. The chat sometimes simply freezes, and new messages just stop showing up (but I can see them in history) and I can't type anything. I use FF, anyone know how to fix this problem?

This happens to me, but only when my connection drops for some reason - it stops updating the chat automatically and I have to refresh.

The root cause could be unstable connections between you and chat, or could be something else entirely.

I believe it is probably as Daxx said. I also have this same issue and it is always when I get split second drops in my connection. It is really frustrating I need to call my internet company and complain.

When the room fills, a new member joining will randomly freeze an old member.

Or.. that's what I heard.

But the frozen member would refresh, go in, and freeze another one, which would do the same thing until reaching a AFK or make a eternal loop?

I found the problems way more often on IE then FF, by the way.

This is a bug that is definitely chat software related and not caused by your system, although some systems seem to suffer more.

IE is clearly the worst possible browser for our chat. It's a nightmare. But anyone shouldn't use that browser anyways, chat or no chat.

I personally get best results with Google Chrome. Your experience might be different.

This will be fixed as soon as the chat software developer guy takes his head out of his.. something, and provides a new version. That new version will have all kinds of other cool features as well, so it should be worth the wait.

Ooh, I like the sound of that, SG!  c:

This definitely happens to me a lot.  Someone told me that if you press enter too soon after typing your message, you can prompt a freeze -- but I don't know if that's true, or just general superstition.  Either way, I try to remember to wait a second or two before hitting enter...

99% sure it's that.

I did a small tweak in chat settings which I hope will make things a bit better for the time being. If we are lucky, it fixes 90% of freezing, if we are unlucky, it does nothing. :)

With Firefox, the chat freeze appears rarely. With IE, a lot of freezes happen. Maybe I'm having some crazy luck, but in the past month or two the chat didn't freeze for me. (a lot.)

Also, to all those talking about pressing enter when typing a message or something, I really doubt that, seeing as I was frozen being AFK. oO (But then again.. I was still on IE at that time. )

I've been using FF almost exclusively, but hopefully this fixed it. Thanks.
