I had a Drain Life for every Steam Machine he played, plus two Liquid Shadow in hand as extra insurance. Very difficult match up for him.

I had enough Quanta to Steal the first Trident. By the time the second one was played, I had enough Nymphs out to win the damage race fairly comfortably.

A 4 quanta start for Joey meant my denial was on the back foot right from the start. He got a SoP and plenty of Gemfinders down early, which really put me on the clock. I think I misplayed by not using Fractal on one of his Gemfinders earlier - I was able to use a second on Wardens towards the end of the game, but needed one more turn to completely lock down his board and win the game.

I was a little worried with only one Pest in my opening hand - my deck would be relying heavily on permanents to win this match up, and one Pest wasn't enough to counteract the quanta from his Mark of Fire. Happily I soon drew into more, which kept my Dagger safe, and a fairly rushy draw of Dragons and a Nightmare was enough to win it for me.
