Round 5 - Strategy https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=16045.msg205537#msg205537

Strategy discussion thread so that we don't overclutter the deckbuilding one.

This thread is linked to the Test Decks thread for the round, so look there to see the postings of the decks I figured most likely for each person to face.  The starter decks below are mostly designed to deal with the decks from that thread.

Note - deckbuilding will be considerably different this round.  We'll be fielding legal suicide decks.  So this round we're going to pick the fights we want to win, and focus on the best possible decks there.  The "win" decks we make (as opposed to the suicide decks), have to be capable of going the rest of the war untouched, so they need a bit of variety as well, and ideally should be uppable.

So, our first job is to decide what battles we're going to win.  Right now it looks like we'll try 5, maybe 6 at most., the other 3-4 will be suicide decks.

I think so far we're thinking:
WIN ATTEMPTS:
2x light
1x darkness
1x time
1x aether

SUICIDE DECKS:
3x death
1x fire

*** We are 9 pillars short of being able to make the below 5 decks even post-conversion.  Need to tweak our discards to make it happen.

Fights this round:

2 fire stalls
1 earth stall
1 graboid phoenix rainbow
1 immo phoenix bow
1 water stall
2 others, maybe suicides?
They have a limited vault and most of their stuff is stall material.

Thinking RT deck for our light matchups.  The dragons are crucial for surviving their fire stalls.

unsure if we'll field a deck here or not, might try a stall deck.  EAs to protect thorn shield and pillars.

:earth Demagog -  :death Nume - suicide, death will expect our best deck here so hand them nothing
:earth Legit - :death Corrum -
I think we have to suicide this too.  We just don't have the pillars to support another stall.
we can't break through their shields, so we'll surprise them with a stall, they're expecting 32 card limit, we'll give them 34
Not sure if we'll have the pillars for this, we'll rearrange salvage a bit and may end up suiciding this one too

1 graboid rainbow
2 devourer options
2-3 straight creature assaults dragons/gargoyles (leftovers from lots of losses with these)
they have a pack of RTs/eternity they can slip into a deck, but otherwise they're looking at scraps.  Other than their one and only graboid bow, they are pretty much looking at straight darkness decks, and probably at least 2 suicide decks.  Terro is their toughest fight by far.

Looking at their salvage, they may have salvaged enough to make a second rainbow, but they probably don't have graboids for the second.

I think darkness might be a good win attempt for us if we can beat their decks.  At the moment looking into using our rainbow here, but if we do it has to outrush their rainbow.

 :earth Korugar - :time Smokefree
Thinking dev denial.
