I'm going to side with jappert partially. I really do like steel golems, sure there not as strong as shrieker, but there more resistant and take 2 shots from just about everything to kill, and 6 damage for 4 is not bad.

Really depends on what you're using. Generally, permafrost shield would be better since it blocks 2 damage and freezes opponents which reduces the attacks by roughly 47%.

Pulverizer and Protect Artifact.  I like destroying stuff, and I hate it when my stuff is destroyed.  Earthquake is another great card, but it has pissed me off too many times from the wrong end of the board to get my vote :p  Graboid definitely gets honourable mention.
