Last-last-tournament (March 27th Western Tournament), I watched Philogos take down everyone with a speed rainbow. The Speed Rainbow is one of the most deadly speed decks out there. They often do not involve pillars of any sort, relying on Novas, Immolations, and the like to spam creatures with low initial costs but can turn much stronger (Graboids, Lycanthropes, Forest Spirits). Often, they also have annoying permanents, like Arsenics, that can really bog you down. They often lack control, instead concentrating on a lightning-fast offensive that just keeps getting larger as the game progresses.
And so, I countered him with an unupgraded version of this deck. It worked.
I present to you the Anti Speed Rainbow Deck, designed specifically to counter Speed Rainbows as the name subtly suggests.

I posted an older, non-upgraded version of this in the tournament decklist topic (

Cards:7 X Gravity Tower: because it looks really awesome. I mean, seriously? A floating Jupiter, suspended by orange electromagnetic forces or something? Epic! You really don't need that many Gravity Towers in this deck, because all of the Gravity cards are cheap as dirt.
4 X Gravity Force: Cheap as dirt and very good for creature control. This is the main source of creature control in this deck, and it's capable of taking down 4 creatures for very cheap costs. You should probably develop your Firemasters a bit first in order to kill with these, but Gravity Force is awesome. Stop that offensive right in its tracks before it gets too late.
5 X Graviton Firemaster: Your damage doers. They're like Juggernauts: Hard to stop, and they just keep getting stronger. Complement this with the fact that they are insanely cheap and that speed rainbows often lack creature control, and you have yourself a very powerful offensive.
6 X Black Hole: These are fun. Soak that Immolation and Nova quanta right up and heal yourself to boot. For only 3
, you can destroy all your opponent's quanta. Because of the nature of speed rainbows, they probably already have creatures out, but they can't Lycanthrope, Grow, Ablaze, or Evolve them without precious quanta, now can they? You can also just throw one of these down in a tight spot for healing.
4 X Burning Tower: These look kinda cool, too.
2 X Explosion: They take care of Arsenics and other nasty weapons for a bargain.
2 X Rage Elixir: More creature control! Yay! For a modest cost, you can eliminate another creature. If you have not yet developed your Firemasters but need to get rid of a creature fast, just throw one of these down; they can do up to 6 damage - plenty to knock out early creatures. If Rage Potions are unupgraded, you can even buff your own Firemasters with them.
Strategy: Suck up quanta. Heal. Destroy creatures. Do damage. That's about it.
Notice something missing? Permanents. You never know whether a speed rainbow is packing Explosions or Steals.
Pros: This deck rocks against Speed rainbows.
Cons: This deck bites the dust against anything else. Against Level 3's its okay, sort of, but there are thousands of better alternatives. In random PvP, it's not bad, but it's meant to be used solely for rainbows. You can also use this deck to great effect against regular rainbows.
