I came up with the idea for this deck when looking at all the success that firestalls seem to enjoy on the PvP2 landscape.  Obviously, there is an inherent problem with this concept on the PvP1 arena, namely that SoGs aren't present.  With that being said, I present to you, Fiery Rebirth.

Now, this deck is still very much in testing, but it has done very well vs. AI3 thus far with the only losses being the the  :time/ :light Elder.  Any and all comments and/or criticisms are welcome, as I will be editing this as variations are suggested and I do further testing.  (Edit:  This deck has been an enormous success for me and has done very well against many popular rush decks including Grabow, Shrieker rush, immo Golem, and Grabix.  It's one main weakness seems to be quanta denial decks and I will create an updated version once Sanctuary is released.)

Edit:Here it is, my newest update!  I have to say, this deck works remarkably well, as the Sanctuaries help against decks such as Discord/Black Hole and Devtal, which were really the only main weakness of this deck to begin with.  Also, with the inclusion of Sanctuaries it gives the possibility of attaining EMs.

A few notes about playing these decks:
  • Due to being created for an unupped environment I felt the need to include even more pillars and pendulums than normal in order to ensure a quick gain of quanta.
  • As a result of this (as well as extensive testing on my part), I decided to eliminate the Rage Potions from my deck due the fact that I often felt they weren't useful enough.
  • While the Fire Shields are useful to help kill off creatures, there are times they are simply not fast enough.  I often find myself using Fire Bolts to kill off annoying creatures (nothing like seeing a Phoenix player swear after killing off their Ash.  Sorry Napalm ;)) that Fire Shield isn't really equipped to deal with.
  • As a result of this, Fahrenheit or deckout is most often what delivers the killing blow.
  • One nice thing with the inclusion of Sanctuaries in the deck is that now there are more permanents that add a great deal to the deck than an opponent will be equipped to handle unless they are packing both Deflagrations and Steals.

I like the idea of a PvP1 Fire Stall, but I'm concerned with it being only 30 cards. The original Fire Stall had three win conditions: Death by Fahrenheit, Death by Lances, or Death by Deckout. With it being 30 cards, if you go first, you'll deck out if you can't damage them enough. Though, with it being PvP1, the meta might change, but I really only play PvP2 with my Fire Stall. >.<"

I like the Miracle idea, but do you find yourself short on :light when you need it? Perhaps more Pends?

i ran a 40 card version in BL once that used basically a standard firestall but i used heals instead of sogs and used mark of life.

You don't deck out if you go first because the second person draws.  Otherwise i agree with what you saying.

Yes, that is what I meant. I meant to say that if you "draw" first.

I actually ran across this problem when I started using it to PvP1 more, and I came up with this version that I like much better:

Code: [Select]
5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f0 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f4 5f5 5f5 5f5 5f6 5f6 5f6 5f6 5f7 5f7 5f8 5f8 5fb 5fb 5gi 5gi 5gi 5gi 5li 5li 5li 5li 5liHere, you have a deck that fulfills all three win conditions.  I will add this deck to the OP so people can comment on it as they see fit.

I like the Miracle idea, but do you find yourself short on :light when you need it? Perhaps more Pends?

Believe it or not, I have never once run into a problem with not having enough light quanta with either deck.  The Fire Shield, Rage Potions, and Rain of Fire, do a ton to thin out creatures, especially since most PvP decks don't carry a ton of creatures and ones that do are usually Graboid/Shrieker rushes that your shield and RoF make short work of.  I may still tinker with the number of Pends compared to the number of pillars, especially once it runs into some quanta denial decks, but as of right now I'm comfortable with where it stands.

Opening post edited to show a new version of the deck that utilizes Sanctuaries that were released with 1.27.  With the advent of Sanctuaries, this deck actually has the capability to EM.

Presumably the upgraded version would be a PvP2 Firestall.

I made a PvP1 Firestall a little while back in my Starter Decks collection. All you need to make this is to start with fire and take out(don't have to sell all of them, but you need to sell a good portion)/put in cards until you end up with the deck below. The electrum left over is from selling all unnecessary cards. The below deck is rareless and makes a perfect starting point for anyone that wants to aim their sights on the PvP1 Firestalls mentioned above.

Due to the left over electrum it is also easy to add a couple cards to this to customize and improve it right away.
