Probably to try to get something out on the first turn. Arsenic is only 2 death quanta.

I wouldnt. The novas help get out early Arsenic, Poison, and Chaos Seed. The Death Mark also helps with Poison or Arsenic. Death Pillars would only make a surplus on Death quanta.
