Fully upgraded t50 farmer: fractal, charger, phase shield https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=5396.msg54539#msg54539

First deck post here. Apologies in advance if I break any conventions, if I am repeating a known build, or if I'm spouting useless info.

Since there was a pharaoh farm up for a bit yesterday (is it more polite to credit the player or not name them? opting on the side of caution here), I found myself pressed into building a t50 farmer. After trying a few things, I found this deck to be highly successful. It's fully upgraded, and I don't know how well it would work partly upgraded or completely unupped. It did so well I decided to run a more rigorous test today, and I figured I might as well share the info.

Here's the deck:
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 744 745 745 745 745 745 745 808 808 808 808 808 808 808 80d 80d 80d 80d 80i 80i 80i 80i 8pl

The goal was to make a deck that would play quickly and not require too much planning, but also have a high winning percentage -- including against the pharaoh farm which was built to put up a fight. In terms of the goals, it was very successful. The only real strategy involved was playing a shield vs saving quanta for a fractal, it went 4-0 vs the farm, and it felt like I was winning very frequently.

I decided to get some recorded results vs t50 today. Here is the outcome:
63-10 (86% wins)
or if you count the 'free' wins vs rare farms that didn't fight back
69-10 (87% wins)

Here's the individual breakdown:

17 - 2 supernova control
16 - 0 rainbow control
 6 - 3 life fast creature
6 - 0 rare farms (free rares, no fighting back)
 4 - 0 time/gravity/death
 3 - 1 farenheit flying weapon
 3 - 0 cockatrice fractal
 2 - 1 precog momentum
 2 - 0 hope/RoL/fractal
 2 - 0 charger fractal
 2 - 0 trident/squid (farm that fights)
 1 - 1 fractal pest
 1 - 0 supernova creature
 1 - 0 darkness rainbow
 1 - 0 supernova 0 pillar
 1 - 0 immolation fast creature
 1 - 0 time/fire shard dragon
 0 - 1 flying titan black hole
 0 - 1 unstable gas wyrm

It's obvious how prevalent the rainbow control decks are, so the success rate against them is an important positive aspect.

Super fast creature decks are a weakness (comes down to how quick my deck can get a shield out) even though the win percent against them was still high.

Matches vs decks focused on chargers/titans were dicey since the shield is the main stall tactic vs quick creatures. I was able to narrowly beat my own deck both times due to the AI blowing quanta on shields while I knew I could just save aether to maximize fractal opportunities.

Decks that are unknown difficulty due to lack of games (and not playing vs similarly themed decks to compare them to) are the fractal pest and unstable gas wyrm decks. I'd say my deck is probably a coin flilp against those. Also the flying titan black hole deck interests me, I had a bad shuffle for pillars against it, although I don't know if a better shuffle would have made a difference.

I know this isn't a full statistical analysis, but the deck seems to work well. Sadly it can't deal with the quanta, health, and card drawing that the FG's employ. I'm trying to build something similar that can succeed vs the FG's, but I've yet to be truly successful with that so don't hold your breath.

Questions, suggestions, and criticisms are welcome. Thanks for taking the time to read.

This deck killed me in top 50.
Much too fast for my mediocre rainbow.

Thanks for sharing nothingfarm. Yeah you're probably repeating a known build but not many people bother to post statistics for T50 farming decks so it's still definitely a fine contribution. Hope you won't put this up too often though because if I played it I would have double the chance of meeting it (which like playing any rush deck against yourself in T50 often boils down to the result of the coin toss). But I usually put up a farm like you anyway =]

Ah thanks Jangoo. I didn't search the full forum for this, just ran a browser text search on the first page of posts. My bad.

Not really surprising that it's been done before. As per unionruler's post, hopefully posting my record vs t50 will be useful to some folks.

Decks come and go ... then they come again.  ;D
You sure did pound those T50-rainbows to death there eh?

And, I actually came up with a pretty good improvement after playing with it a bit again:

Fractal charger isn't exactly the fastest deck out there because Chargers are the hell of expensive. My tweaking foresees:

+ Towers (up to 12, you need the quants and you want to get 5 Towers out asap, so you can play a charger each turn)
- Charger (5, you will get many more through fractal either way)
- fractal (3-4, you can hardly pay for all those chargers anyways, so why fill up your hand with tons of fractal?)
+ Electrocutor (1-2, best control for this deck -> takes out a lot of that nasty mutating, loboing, devouring which cripples your expensive fleet and stops FFQs, Pharaohs ... if it gets stolen and the oppo has decent shields it kinda blows though)

The deck even works unupgraded. It's amazing what fractal can do:

Though I have to admit that person took a lonnnggg time to set up.

Anyone tried stick a couple Oty/Quints into this?  Seems like a shame to pass up the most broken combo in the game when you're already using that quanta.

It would slow the deck down too much if you did that and charger decks are already slow as it is. I've played over 100 T50 games with a charger deck and oty's would only hinder it.

I spun this around for awhile, and it seems really clunky.  It's weird.  It wins a lot, but I'm getting the feeling the vast majority of those wins would have happened if the fractals had been chargers #7 thru #11.  Charger is just really freaking good.  (Probably too good, upgrade gets 3 attack, wat?)  Most of the games go "Fractal my charger, press space and discard one, cast one per turn for the next 2-3 turns, win".  It somehow seems philosophically wrong to be summoning 6 chargers into my hand and not being able to cast them.  It's hard to argue with results, but still, something bothers me.

BTW, I feel like the mark should be aether, so you can cut the aether towers way down and the gravity towers way up.  You really want to be able to "front load" the gravity mana by dumping as many pillars as possible into play on turn one, so that when you do cast fractal, even if it's delayed a turn, you can actually do something with the chargers other than discard one.  Whereas with the Aether mana, a smooth progression to "eventuality" is fine.  You're trying to fling the chargers you draw out of your hand ASAP, the same is not true of the Phase Shields.  Also, the second Fractal feels much like the third Aether Tower: garbage clogging up my draw/hand.  I wonder what going to 3 would do to the win rate.

UPDATE: 80%+ win rate looks right. This deck beat a darkness deck that stole all 4 of my shields, rainbow rushes that got out ridiculous amounts of creatures really quickly, but lost a couple times to cremation decks that somehow got 2 destroyers out before my first turn. Amazing deck, I'm playing it with 3 more gravity pillars (not as pretty to look at, but works better). It's wonderful when near the end of the game I sit behind a shield an accumulate enough quanta to play 6 chargers at once while my second shield keeps me sitting pretty. Amazingly enough, it EMs quite often against FG-type rainbows, even after double-rains of fire ^_^
