Fire+Time [unupped and sorta fun] https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=30268.msg384546#msg384546

With a quick glance around here I can see that people seem to favour smaller decks. I guess that's because they want to draw the cards that they need. Well I have been playing little bit of card games and if there's one thing I've learned it is that drawing card is good. Usually REALLY good. So with that in mind I wanted to do a deck with drawing cards. With this setup I think I could slap the time components to just about any deck, but this one seems to be working fairly well. I mean AI3 well, not fared well againts Gods yet.

For me, the deck seems fairly balanced and usually I manage to draw few cards to get it rolling. I'm just curious how bad this really is compared to the 'cookie cutter' decks people have devised.

I've used a time firestall before for fun and seen some in pvp2, in this deck you've posted you're very heavy on :time quanta. Also - generally you will find that using select cards from an element in-keeping with strategy is ultimately more useful than a large array as displayed in your deck.

Can see this is your first post and that you're new, have you heard of pendulums? I'll leave it to you to look at them but they are very handy for balancing quanta generation in duos. :)

Also there is a deck image tool on the forums, it looks like a stack of three cards on the posting screen. You can click that button and add the import/export code of your deck inbetween the ]['s to get a quick easy deck image in this format.

Code: [Select]

The key to a successful deck is not really about large or small decks - the larger the deck the less chance of drawing the cards you need - the smaller the deck the less substance there is to the deck - it's about finding the optimum balance where all the cards needed for the deck to perform best are there, at the lowest bound to achieve it. A lot of the time this is a 30 card deck (because there is a high value of benefit to having the smallest possible decksize in a lot of strategies.) As you spend more time on the forums you will find that there are decks in a variety of sizes - with some of the best decks being at both the larger and the smaller sides of the spectrum.

Welcome to the forums, have fun tweaking your deck. :)

Yes I've heard of pendulums, but for me they are a mixed blessing and this seems to work rather well.

And heavy on time quanta? So far I've almost never ran to problem where I've had too much of it. If I have too much I can put more hourglasses to table and draw more cards. Maybe with upped hourglasses I can see it, but not with the normal. Or that's how I see it. Also the the deck is rather large so drawing even that one factory is quite nice.

Pends and more Time cards.
If not, at least upgrade the Hourglasses. 2 Quanta for a draw can be hard to accomplish.

Heavy usage of time quanta - not enough time quanta.
