I don't think that an unupped AI3 grinder player may have 4 squids. I like it, but let's make it rareless
A few things.
1) Though I said it fared well versus AI3, that doesn't necessarily make it an AI3 grinder. I use AI3 as a gauge to measure a deck's effectiveness against unupped decks. If it does reasonably well against AI3 then I can generally assume that it will fare well in PvP1 as well, among other things.
2) There are decks with limited to no rares which are much faster and thus more profitable than this which would be more appropriate for newbies to use as an AI3 grinder.
3) My only concern here was attempting to patch up the vulnerability to rushes which I believe I managed to do.
4) The opening post mentions considering the use of Druidic Staffs which is a sign to me that attempting to modify the deck with rares is fair game.
5) If you want a rareless variation, use the deck in the opening post. Unless your deck uses 4 Ice Shields it's not going to consistently get the same lock down effect you get from the Squids.
