If theres a early Fire Buckler and you have no golems on the board, you'll have to just use the phoenixes and  creatures to avoid instant meltdown

Got a question though:

What can be done about that bad feeling you get when having to cremate your gemfinders
1st or 2nd turn? I guess waiting a turn to cremate a brimstoner is not a good option
when you might as well have a pheonix on the table already?
But then again, the bottleneck for me are always the grabs because there isn't enough
  in the deck without sparing the gemfinders from cremation ...

You could spare a Brimestone Eater or 2 for an explosion, I hope? Safety comes first after all

Would be cool if you could do the same with damselflies (more damage then gnomes) and UG's.

You should obviously only use the UG's for the killing blow (or blow up your creatures...). I doubt it'll actually be faster because of UG cost and 1 turn delay on play (kind of the same with graboids) but it would be nice to be able to deal with the Dim shield, Hope and Wings!
