I'd say it's more of a version of Bonebolt with Dims.

If Animate Weapon is upgraded, why not just have the whole thing be upgraded or not upgraded?

There's no Bolt in this... it's just a Death Dim stall. Been used since War 2 and further back. Also one of the decks I used to recommend for farming AI4. Still works, but I would rebalance the quanta and Fractal Mummies, skip the Animates and use 2 Arses.
