Anti-Rainbow

Yesterday I saw that most of the decks in top-50 look something like this: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,132.0.html (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,132.0.html) and it was getting boring to fight them.

Then I saw this post by Mr. Jellyfish http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,296.msg2251#msg2251 (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,296.msg2251#msg2251). I think with so many rainbow decks around today, it's a great idea to design an anti-rainbow deck. Here is my version of it.

When designing an anti-rainbow deck first question I asked myself was: "If I lose with my rainbow deck, what is the most common reason WHY do I lose?" The answer is pretty simple: My permanents get destroyed.  What element is the most efficient in destroying permanents? Earth. More specifically, Pulverizer. So I set out to design this deck around Pulverizer and here's what I came up with:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
74d 74d 74d 74d 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 778 77b 77b 77b 77b 77c 77c 77f 77f 77f 77i 77i 77i 77i 8pl
Gravity Force x 4
Use this to take out enemy characters, like Fallen Druids.

Basalt Dragon x 4
Main damage dealer. If you want to play it safe, wait until you get Gravity Force in hand before playing. Otherwise opponent might play Fallen Druid and mutate your Dragon into something useless.

Diamond Shield x 2
Helps you to stay alive longer and possibly get elemental mastery win.

Pulverizer x 3
Most important card in this deck. You might be able to pull it off with 2, but 3 is definitely better. Use it to destroy enemy permanents like Hourglasses and Sundials. Destroy Pillars last. Do NOT play if you cannot use Protect Artifact on it at the same time.

Protect Artifact x 4
Second most important card. Most rainbow decks have Steal. Use this to protect your permanents, especially Pulverizer.
My mark is Gravity. (so I can use Pulverizer and Gravity Force).

Now you might ask why I didn't take Earthquake? I don't need it. It doesn't matter if the opponent can collect a lot of quantum. I'll just destroy all the Sundials and Hourglasses so he cannot draw any extra cards. And if he cannot draw any extra cards or use Sundials as protection, he has no chance even if he had 999 quantum of all elements.

As you can see this is a very simple and straightforward deck. Yet it's highly effective against different kinds of rainbow decks. I have fought 20+ matches against Rainbow decks in top-50 and I won ALL of them. Only problem with this deck is that it requires 2-3 upgraded Pulverizers and most players don't have them.

Here are some pictures of this deck in action:

This was a regular mark of time rainbow deck. I didn't kill that Otyugh because I felt sorry for him.

Another rainbow deck, this time with mark of air.

If you have any comments or suggestions, let me know.

I actually built this one right after I did the Gravity Version of my other one, lol.

I was surprised at the similarity between my deck and Scaredgirl's. o-o

I did use Earthqakes because, early game, they really helped me get the card and Quantum advantage (opponent often discarded). After trying out yours, I agree that Earthquakes are not needed, but they can help at times. I was focusing on denial when I made it, lol. The Diamond Shields are almost necessary against some decks, such as a well built FFQ, or anything with Bone-/Graveyard, since it can still outnumber me to death if I get bad draws. >.<" I took out one of your Enchant Artifact and added another Basalt Dragon, because I often had two or three Enchant Artifacts in my hand, and I actually started winning faster, even if I did have an extra Dragon sitting in my hand while I accumulated Quanta, though without the Earthqakes, I tend to have more Quanta more often. I recommend using Scaredgirl's Deck, if anything (I just need to get 2~3 Pulverizers...>.<").

Okay, so I tried a few more games, and I do think that four Enchant Artifacts are needed. I just lost a game (It was close, I might add, they were in single digits) because they stole my Diamond Shield. Had I not played it, however, I would've died sooner...so yeah. =/

EDIT::Some issues that this deck has is Eternity and Earthquake. If your opponent starts using either of them, and you don't already have an Enchanted Pulverizer in play, you're in for a lot of trouble. (That's actually not a bad deck idea...Time/Earth with Earthquakes and Reverse Time...duely noted.) If you have extra Enchant Artifacts, use them on your pillars. They are VERY valuable to the success of this deck.

Also, I think the reason Earthqakes don't work so well against the t50 Rainbow Decks is because of the QT glitch. Against a human played Rainbow Deck, the Earthquakes would be more useful, though you're better off without them. Scaredgirl's deck is still better.

Ok, I thought this deck would be invincible against rainbow deck but after about 40 matches I finally got my ass kicked.

I had a horrible draw where after drawing half my deck, I hadn't received ANY Dragons, Pulverizers or Shields. My opponent on the other hand had a great draw and was going crazy with FFQ's and all kinds of nasty damage dealers. There was nothing I could do.

Luckily there is a very small chance of that happening again so I still have confidence in this deck.

Yeah, this deck's main weakness is bad draws, which I've gotten a few of. I've noticed that for this deck to work right, you NEED a Pulverizer early game...or at least a Diamond Shield and Enchant Artifact to protect yourself until you can get a Pulverizer. =/

Found a weakness to the deck: Devourers. Nasty little devils that eat up my precious Quantum. D=

It was close, but I still managed to pull off a win.

So um...yeah...where exactly would I farm Pulverizers? >.<" I know I can get them from Seism, but I don't encounter him often, and when I do, I lose...which AI has them, usually? (I've seen them in AI3, but in over 50 games against it, I never once saw one, or faced the deck that I suspect has them. >.<").

I was told that one of the level 3 guys have it. But I would imagine getting one from slots is pretty difficult.

I did and tested this deck in trainer because although I have tons of all kinds of crappy cards, I have zero Pulverizers. Just the thought of having to grind those level 3 noobs to get THREE Pulverizers.. I don't think I can do it. I doubt I will ever be able to test this deck in PvP duels which is a shame because I'm sure it would be pretty good.

Yeah, I think I'll just keep farming Gods and hope that I'll get a couple from Seism as I play. =/ I almost felt like making a new account and getting one from the final quest, and then just farming AI3 for a while, then building your God Farming deck and use it to get a bunch of money...but then I'd end up playing that new account and I'd disregard my old one...>.<"

Play Top 50 for pulverizers. I got one recently from Top 50 so now I have enough for this type of deck.

This is probably one of 2 decks that work well against rainbow. It does worst against devourers because there is 50% chance per devourer to steal your gravity quanta and then you can't destroy which is just terrible.

Out of all the weaknesses this deck has, this one is the most debilitating.

I've almost never see these, and I play a lot of lvl 3.

I almost got one against Seism, but the third spin was a Quicksand...and I saw one against AI3 earlier today. I also saw one in the spins after a t50 match. They're out there, they just never seem to come up. I think that beating Seism would be your best bet. =/ If anyone in the t50 has one, I don't suppose you could make a deck with all pillars and that one pulverizer...so I could win a couple for myself.
