wow, just noticed the last 2 rounds of picks, first and last team now gets 3 in a row, like seriously, snake does not work well in a card game setting.  i think the booster draft idea was the best route :(  you know, where there are actual packs of cards, and each team starts with a pack of X cards, takes one from that pack then passes it on to the next team.  not only would card picking be so much faster, you could have an 8h time limit for each round, and every team is within that 8h, not each team getting their own 8h, and also on top of saving time, picking cards would be a lot more fair, with no one getting any kind of advantage other than a luck advantage.    could even have teams picking 2 cards out of a pack, and also keeping what cards they took secret.

Given the whole situation that went down with Team nrate missing the 8 hour deadline, 10 men picking 1 minute after, TStar ragequitting as a result and the event immediately becoming non-fun for team nrate.  I will say that there was definitely better ways to react by both 10 men and TStar.  QT's team was given a friendly extension previously by dd, but rules are rules.

Ultimately, there was an incompetence of leadership in our team, and an incompetence in the rest of our team to identify this and step up to help out.  Expecting one person to be able to draft every 8 hours is a lot, but we never communicated how the responsibility would be delegated.  All-in-all... not fun & sadface.

I feel bad that the situation got out of hand like this. I actually didn't think it would be that big of a deal, I was just online and didn't know how active I could be later in the day, so I made the pick. Also I didn't expect it to be this big of an upset for team Pi, apparently they were dead set on Phoenix (?) - for us it was a relatively close call between many alternatives. Apologies if I ruined the event for anyone...

I am sorry to team for the trouble I have caused, and I sincerely hope that team n continues to try hard. Losing phoenix was a loss (my thought process is who is to say that flying weapon ended up being a worse choice?), and 10 men was justified. I am sorry that this happens
I am most sorry for TStar and myself, as getting parasites, or even losing rep like this will prevent TStar from joining the next trials, unless he chooses to return
I will never be a master, because of this incident; likely I wouldn't have been one anyways, but even such, it sucks to have lost reputation like that.
I am actually very active right now because it is summer for me, however for me, the last post was at 2 or 3 I believe. I just feel really stupid, because although I logged on about an hour before the post was due, I didn't check the draft status, and started my work.
I almost wish I was busier, so I could be indignant,

The 8-hour deadline at first seems unreasonable, but then after you think about it, it starts to make sense, sneak a log on here, wake up, and among 7 teammates it should work fine.

Things don't always work out, and sometimes the whole team is screwed; however I refuse to let that happen. I do thoroughly wish that we could have had phoenix, we will win with flying weapon!

The opinion of the guy that matters least, me, can be online at any time, but no ones bothered to find out who can be on when.  But since I like cards that no one else does, if there is no consensus, I'd be inclined to pick something I like instead.  Just saying, we don't have to all be on every pick, each person could make a list of potential cards and one person could make the selection and all they'd have to do is change their list to fit with what's available.

I had said I didn't really care what cards were picked initially, but after the first two, and after seeing what the other teams picked, I had to speak up, and continue to do so.

Plastiqe did the best he could, but changing rules late in an event is a big no-no.  Whenever such rule changes are made it almost by definition impacts one or more teams negatively.

With that in mind, in the future Draft Organizers will need to decide ahead of time whether the top two teams should have a championship round or whether they can continue to play other teams.  The latter option arguably makes more sense because one team may be weak against the other team but stronger overall, but Organizers will need to recognize that mathematically eliminated teams may be less motivated to finish strong.

Is 12h card drafting too short for three player teams?

In terms of time given: Maybe.
In terms of how many times we might have to wait between picks for 12 teams, probably too long if people aren't grouped together.
You're just as selfish as I am. You're just not as good at it yet.

But you are only waiting for the other 5 teams in your side of the draft.  Think of it like there will be two separate card drafting events going on at once, and later they get combined to play against each other.

Granted one side may draft much faster than the other, but that is what peer pressure is for.

12 hours is enough.... but what if instead of the pick passing on to the next team, a pick was made automatically according to a pre-draft cheat sheet based on the previous draft event. i.e. if it's your turn to pick and you miss it, you get whatever the highest rated card on the board is from the last event. Moderators would be given an optional 'element-preference' in this case, and you could have it set that you would get the highest rated card of your chosen element. Moderator plugs in the pick, and we move on. Teams signing up for the event would know if they miss their window, they get a decent card of their chosen element, albeit not the one they may have necessarily been targeting.

Problem is that a moderator can't be on all the day to make the pick automatically, also it would break some team's strategy by making a pick.
