I agree that the first draft can be considered a success. Just a couple things.

-About increasing the number of cards picked at the same time. It would make the rounds go faster, but I don't really like the fact that it makes counterpicks impossible in the later rounds, especially for the teams at the end who will be drafting 6 cards uninterrupted. The solution I would prefer would be to just try and hold a live draft, with all the teams participating at once. This might take some work to get organized between the different timezones, but I think it could be managed.

-Making certain cards undraftable. There really is just too little PC in elements right now to let it be drafted. Perhaps each team can pick one of the available PC cards at the beginning/end of the draft to use. A card could be picked by multiple teams, but they wouldn't have access to the others.

thing is, its the goal of drafting. If you want PC, draft it. Wait too much and it'll be too late.

Actually, PC was not that much of a factor, as you may think. Have a look at Team White -- we drafted Deflag early along with a few other fire cards (+steam), and there were very few occasions that it actually made a difference. There were several times I couldn't even play it, even if I had some in my hand (like against trident and discord decks), and more often totally useless because of no real permanent threat..

I just wanted to add a thank you to plastiqe.  This was a difficult and time intensive Event to run and though Event Organizers sometimes have trouble finding the time, you did a great job with it.  +Karma.

For the future I personally don't think PC needs constraining.  Team Green won with BE which wasn't taken until Round 12.  And while it's nice to have the threat of PC during deckbuilding if you want to actually use the PC you have to build a deck around it, but opponents can probably guess what that deck is going to look like from your available cards.

I thought it would be fun to have an Official Card Drafting Day, like a fantasy football league.  It might be a nightmare to organize, but I suspect someone from each team would be available from say 12-3:30pm EST on a Sunday.  Each team would get two minutes per pick.

Yes, I agree, it was a lot of fun. Thank you plastiqe.

Concerning PC cards, I don't know but we won without a real PC card (we did have Butterfly Effect, but the card is really bad, we barely used it).

Discord was far more of a problem for most teams than PC from what I heard.  With only 2 teams getting to have Immo/Nova there weren't many counters for it out there.

Live drafting sounds great but it's an absolute nightmare to organize and invariably one or more people/teams have something come up that prevents them from being there.  I ran an online fantasy football league for several years and after trying to have a live draft the first year, I scrapped the system.  Just too many variables and headaches and potential problems.  What I went to instead was an email system.  Each round lasted 1 day, and each player/team emailed me a list in order of who they wanted to draft in that round.  So a team picking 5th in the round sent me 5 names, 6th sent 6 names, etc.  I'd then pick the highest name on the list for that team.  It's not a perfect system but it turned out to be far easier than trying to do live drafting, plus it kept the draft moving.  Something similar might be an option here if live drafting isn't feasible.
Carpe Diem!!

Part of the reason that discord was so bad is because of how few counters it has. Deflag, the card I proposed making undraftable, is one of the better ones.

immo, nova, deflag,, that makes 3 cards to counter discord, and you can pick discord itself

might have been an idea to think about drafting one of those

steal, voodoo + BB or pande, wings, dim shield, bonewall.  Plenty more ways to stop discord.

You can say that, but we only had a single pick to get any one of those before any of the worthwhile ones were gone, and the rest are hardly viable options.

Bonewall costs 7, it's never getting out before discord.
Voodoo + BB, cute, but going to be hard with discord screwing with your quanta. Also it's 2 cards to stop 1.
Steal, expensive, and also gone.
Wings- gone

etc.

The list is really short, and when you have the first pick, you can only stop so much. What if we hadn't taken graboid and somebody had drafted nova graboid or something? Then you'd be saying we were dumb to not take graboid. There are simply too few things that you can do when you have the first pick then you have to wait for 10 cards to disappear.

I think something also needs to be done about player replacements. I don't think that teams whose players drop becoming super stacked is fair.
