Bloodshadow has it right. The majority of fear and anxiety have roots in the unknown. People who are comfortable in the dark rarely fear it.

I personally associate darkness with the absence of light or energy. White objects, by their very nature, reflect all light towards a viewer, Black objects absorb it. I also think there are plenty of 'evil' things lurking about in the daytime. *lol*

If I was to suggest a card or effect that I think would fit with the whole vampirism/drain theme, it would a card/or creature ability that gives you the ability to switch a creatures power with their health. This would suggest a creature could feed off their own body to do more damage, or channel their power into hp for protection. It is like a rage potion in some regards though, so it may be a useless suggestion.

Alternatively, an effect to feed/leech off an enemy and switch your power/hp with a different target would also be cool. This would essentially be a one time use of the devour ability, that didn't kill off the target of the effect, and didn't transfer abilities. The transfer of abilities could perhaps come with an upgrade...

I haven't been through the majority of the forums yet, so please forgive if these have been said before.

All I think Darkness needs is a bit more lategame damage.

Shadow:
Create an illusionary copy of target creature (PU it).  The clone will have 1 HP, but the opponent will see it having full HP.

Synergy with cloak, late game scaling.  Can be used for emergency burst heal on a huge liquid shadow'd card, but it'll only last one turn.  Note, this is BASE health, not MAX health, and isn't an insta-kill with voodoo doll.

Drain Life and Dragons work as late game already. A 3rd late game card would be useful but not critical. If one is added it should have a new effect in line with a Darkness theme. Copying is distinctly Aether. Theft is distinctly Dark. (Mind control of creatures is too difficult to balance.)

Along that line, here is a card idea:
Orb of Bitter Shaows: Permanent type card. Ability: :darkness :darkness :darkness Concealing Shadow - The next permanent or creature card you play is played face down. Face down cards can be targeted directly only if the targeting spell or ability can affect any card of that type (i.e. prevents use of otyugh and paradox). Face down cards are revealed if targeted directly and spells or effects that remove invisibility also reveal face down cards. Each time one of your face down cards is revealed 5 health is stolen from your opponent and returned to you.
