Requires quanta, but it's free. https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=17372.msg221055#msg221055

I have idea of creating cards that requires quanta, but when you play them they don't drain quanta.
Like Supernova like eva ria said. These cards would look like this.

EXAMPLE

Version 1 :

The First version is simple
Pros :simple
Negs: Takes space in the text area

Version 2 :

Second version is more complicated. The * 3 means that it needs 3  :light in the quanta pool to be played but it's cost is 0.
Pros: Doesn't takes space in the text area
Negs : more complicated

What do you think about this idea?

Why have the requirement of X amount of Y quanta? The cost will be almost the same as if they were normal free cards with the following exception.

All "free" cards would have to be played before the quanta can be used. Thus it could be argued that they "cost" 1/n (n= the number of free cards that will use the quanta) of the quanta required as a rough guideline for balancing. However this is stretching it.

PS: The 2nd version is harder on the coding (for a similar reason to the lack of Dual element cards.) Please use the 1st.

This works basically like SNova.

It does actually "Cost" Quanta, but requires you to get a certain amount of quanta in the game before you can start using them.

With enough cost, you could think of it as an advanced card that you can only play late game.

SNova is a good example. It is a quanta generator and thus truly costing quanta would be silly (see quanta engine instead). Having the "2 :entropy" requirement does play a good role in this case.

However the cost of a SNova is not  :entropy :entropy but rather closer to  :entropy :entropy/SNovas per deck. (Or even less because usually you can just wait for more Entropy quanta so you don't have to reserve  :entropy :entropy)

I would be very cautions when designing "free" cards. They caused a terribly broken set in MTG. (We can do better than WotC though)

I like the idea. It could be abused if the cards for it are not balanced.
Lets say a card requires 2 quanta to use but it's free and then 1 super nova could power all of them in the deck.

This ^
and
Not only that but a few super novas could power them for the rest of the game if cost is too low. Nerf Supernova/nova or make sure these cards cost alot.

I kinda like the idea, somewhat of a reward for already having quanta, but instead of making it free but requiring quanta to exist, why not make it cost 3 and generate 6?
