Question... Fusion Cards??? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=40863.msg505703#msg505703

So...
Have these ever come up? I'd be shocked if they hadn't. Was there some general decision that they don't fit, or can I go ahead and post this card idea I was working on?

As in "sacrifice card X and card Y in order to cast card Z?"

You'd really have to justify taking up 3 card slots in a deck and the quanta to cast the creatures being fused together to cast just one creature. PU and Mitosis break it if the resulting creature is too good, though.

See, I was worried about something like that.

I was wondering if I could sell a set of "rules" for fusion cards to circumvent for problems.
The creatures I want to introduce are a catalyst of sorts that fuse with a set of cards that already exist in the game. They are low cost and have a targeting mechanic similar to the Crusader's.

Rules I propose:
1) Any attempt to copy a fusion creature results in only the catalyst being copied.
and/or
2) Any non-damage spell (excluding buffers) that targets the fusion separates it and applies the effect to the catalyst.

I'm really trying not to be ridged about my ideas. I encourage any opinions or suggestions about this...

Im working on a combinator in the above thread. That is one way to build such a device. you might also look for my quicksilver series, which had some similar mechanics.

Fusion runs into the following problem:

To be fair to newbs, a fusion card needs to worded such that every possible combination is predictable.

To date, I have not seen a version that met this criteria. Yours may or may not be different.

You don't think SoI puts newbs at an unfair position if they don't have access to the tool Xenocidius made?

Ok, I was actually making the point that we all ready have the problem, and it's not really a bad one.  Heck, people love mutation decks, and I highly doubt that anybody knows the chances of getting a mutant with steal, per say.  My example of SoI was actually to show that it wasn't completely necessary to list everything on the card, the game itself is full of randomness, a bit more won't really hurt it.  Besides, I'm pretty sure we could make a spreadsheet or tool that shows what these fusion cards would make.  I just feel like it isn't necessary to have every possible combination on the card text.

The chances are not important.
I wish newbs knew about the Steal skill before using mutation.
I wish the Shard Golem skills were more newb friendly. (The stats are already newb friendly)

Any fusion card should probably be more newb friendly than Shard Golem. Certainly not less newb friendly.

So here's a rough example outline of the idea. It's not complete, so don't get too upset about anything you see...
There will be about 4-6 of them (each adds different stat buffs and skills). The untargetable part wears off the rider immediately after the dragon dies.

That type of fusion will work well.

not sure if it should be fire, but dragon rider looks like a cool card.
