for clarity, those elemental splits are by no means rigid or set in stone. suuggestions and affinity, I see plenty of ways to cross over and use one in the other. I actually saw only a few in Cthonic, many in Gaian, and extra Other in Cthonic as well, with plenty of crossovers in what remained. I want to stay free, to give the best chance of implementing some of these into the game fully.

Now we need 2 polls as detailed below. These should last longer (1 week) to support discussion.

:earth definitely fits Cthonic. Gaian is in pursuit of the sky and therefore seems to be abandoning  :earth in favor of  :air
Cthonic has no interest in the volitile  :air.
 :earth :earth / :air :air
Both seem interested in  :water for its properties in organic chemistry and mechanical engineering.

I think the factions would have a dominant element where they have more cards ( :earth/ :life  ?) but I do not think we need a new quanta pool for a faction.

Ok, so we are completely shifting from a 14th(and 15th) elements and fully moving to a set of two factions that only use existing elements?

If this is the case, I propose that these cards have a special border or icon to denote being a 'pure card' of the faction, to denote other cards in the series that are allied instead. Ideally, some form of required card to play cards from the faction, such as Cthonic Tunnels and Gaian Glades, or something that must be in play for those cards to be cast.

Not so sure if it's really a landslide.  I checked the poll and found it had a 3-7 vote but now it's gone to 5-8, so I'm pretty sure people are considering a bit. (Poll is now fully visible to everyone, but as usual it's disabled me from reenabling the 'Remove Vote' option because I'm not a Curator.)

We're still doing two factions.

For the sake of ingame coding and Crucible polling, I suggest we use normal card borders because the game/Crucible currently cannot accept different versions of the card BG (even if the card is perfectly acceptable in all other aspects of code.) If people are willing to take the time to design an 'alternate border' or a 'faction watermark' we can put those on a separate version in the card thread.

perhaps a passive ability or an icon on the card that denotes it. Such as placing "Cthonic" in the card text, a "Cthonic" (or Wood or Gaian or whatever) passive skill, would do the same, so as not to break formatting.

Our final results are 8 - 11 - 1. That turned out to be a bit closer than I expected.

We will be doing Gaian vs Cthonic (Living Wood, or Cold Steel. Biology or Chemistry, Simplicity or Complexity, The Spirit Above, or The Spirit Within.)

I believe it is time we started defining elements/cards for these factions. I personally would like to leave all 12 Elements open to all factions to give room for 'negotiators' or 'turncoats' that can slip between the factions. (The closest I will suggest to alignment is that :life is mostly Gaian, while :earth is mostly Cthonic.)

Do we want 2 quantum generators that each supports a factions? (This could be made possible if each card has a 'Faction Passive' ID like storyteller suggested earlier.)

I also think we should have two 'faction marks' that define the factions and can be potentially used on card art to mark them as from this series.

To reduce the amount of cards needed, I suggest we have 2 cards per element (GG, GC or CC) with a few extra cards in the dominant elements and a few other cards.

To this end we need to identify which elements would have split allegiance and which elements would be loyal to only one side. Quantum generators should be discussed after we have this data.

We also need to develop a defining mechanic for each side. This mechanic might not be on every card of that faction and might not be an ability. Passives are one option. However the mechanic could just as easily be a type of trigger (like the death trigger mechanic) or a type of cost (like mark quanta).
