the reason i suggested it is because all of the other elements mostly exist in opposite pairs (even if they are a bit tenuous like  :time/ :gravity) so it would make sense for the 14th to pair with the 13th.  in fact, ive heard that argument used against there being a 13th element, people say it would necessitate the creation of an opposite 14th.

(Time and Gravity aren't opposites ::))

Though, if we can, I do like the idea of having it an opposite to the Mind element. Either way works for me though.

my 2 :electrum on finding the opposite to 'mind'- mind is not set in stone as a 13th element, clearly, it was just a proposed one.  limiting the choices of what element you want to form next to those that would be opposite of the previously chosen element, which was designed without any such restraints, doesnt seem like it would be beneficial to the designing of a new element.

short version- mind isnt an element, so think freely about what element you think would be cool to work on, but would suggest coming up with something that is distinct from what is already in the game, given that that *does* have some bearing on potential new elements.

A "Tech" or "Science" element could be interesting, but doesn't seem very....elemental, to me. Maybe it'd be better for science/techy ideas to be incorporated into already existing elements instead?

As for this whole concept of coming up with a new element....It seems very difficult. It appears that all the bases have already been covered, from simplistic, earthly, nearly pagan-esque elements, to the grandiosity  of space time and the fabric of the universe. ( :aether :entropy :gravity  :time) The best idea I've been able to come up with thus far is "Will", or maybe referring to Tech as the "Knowledge" element, but I think those are nearly identical to "Mind". :/

Tech could be "Metal", drawing inspiration from the ancient chinese elements. There's also "Spirit", ala ancient Japanese elements. "The Boundless" ala Ancient Greek Philosophy would be interesting, or "Void", but I believe both are the same thing as Aether.

as you mentioned, a nice permanent might be :

Artillery Cannon | Blast cannon
?? cost
Permanent

:element :element deal 3(or so, maybe 5?) damage directly to opponent, bypasses shields (as per trebuchet)

in other words, as you mentioned, a permanent that deals direct damage in line with a medium creature.

It would need an elemental theme. Tech can be the strategy but Tech is a composite and thus not an element IMO.

Tech is an element of :earth Metal that utilizes :gravity Mechanical machines that are likely to be :aether Electrically powered and come from the :time Future.

Is this really just strategy with some thematic extensions or a theme that could be composed into an element? (Mind is an element of :aether Perception that relies on :entropy Confusion and :darkness Illusory techniques, though some cards focus more on :life Creation and Healing.)
