Drake and  I were discussing the above mechanic.
We need all of you to suggest some themes for it.
Then we'll take a vote from suggestions.
Winner will post post idea in Smithy for balancing.

Hmm... Balancing could be tricky. May be very powerful in comibination with GP.

Also, what happens if sanctuary is present on the target's owner's side?

I could see this going into Entropy under the name "Dispersion Armor"

I agree with Odin that it feels like an entropy card.

Another name that could fit the theme and tie together with the concept of entropy would be Carnot Cycle, or some derivative of that name (Carnot Aura, Carnot Veil, etc.).

Quote from: Wikipedia
"In a Carnot cycle, heat (Q1) is absorbed from a 'hot' reservoir, isothermally at the higher temperature (T1) , and given up isothermally to a 'cold' reservoir (Q2), at a lower temperature (T2)."

In terms of the card, damage = heat, and it is given to a different reservoir, i.e. recipient: your quanta pool.

Agreed on the :entropy theme.

Carnot Veil sounds both scientific and cool, which is fitting IMHO as ETG has quite a few science themes.

So, this + GP + any big creature or even just a steady stream of quanta makes a pretty darn good shield. For example, put this on Armagio after activating gravity pull. Your total defense has now increased A LOT, as Armagio takes all the hits but no damage. Another combo is Chimera - giant momentum'd thing that now doesn't take damage, which is supposed to be its balancing mechanism. Voodoo could be interesting too, depending on how this would be coded. One possible change is to add 'this turn' to the card text.

Part of me feels like such a combo could be OP, but another part of me feels that RT and GP as hard counters and denial as a soft counter might be enough to make it balanced.  I'm torn.

Also, would -X/-Y effects weaken/kill the creature without affecting quanta (I'm thinking rage pot), since changing stats =/= damage?

I do think this is an overpowered combo. I therefore suggest, in tune with the whole 'reservoir' theme of the Carnot cycle, is that this effect expires after a certain number of turns, having depleted what unique energy was given to the creature from this card's reservoir.

I feel that one turn might be too weak unless paired with GP though.  If we keep it this way, I feel that we need to reduce the cost.  If not, maybe we can change the timer to 2-3 turns, since the quanta drain of the ability is a cost in and of itself.

The balancing issue isn't so much about its use on your creatures... its a bout its use on THE OPPONENT's creatures.
In a sense, this + GP on an enemy creature will yield the best QC in the game I think... Throw in BB for added fun.

Now consider this combo:
This + GP on a malignant cell on enemy side.
Now you are draining any and all quanta from your opponent when you attack (type other -> rainbow drain liked upped dispersion).
This is annoying to a rainbow... deadly to a mono or duo.
Goodbye devourer, hello THIS.

I see this being used in a rainbow deck with momentum thrown in to allow some damage sink into the opponent while the rest goes to oppressing their quanta supply.
