Idea: Cards playable in either turn. https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=34835.msg439164#msg439164

I recently made a card with a special mechanic: "Can be played during the opponents turn." However it recieve3d mixed thoughts.
But lets jump back a bit.
Recently many of you experienced the "Real Time Elements" thread.
It was simple, turns progressed on a time scale and you could throw out cards whenever you felt like doing so.
It was incredibly chaotic, but at teh same time, kinda fun.
It also left me with an idea, mind you I wouldn't doubt if this has come up in otehr minds.
Anyways, looking at the real time elements, I noticed that turns will still occuring properly, the most basic change to the game was simply that there was no restriction on when cards could be played; and I thought hey, wouldn;t it be neat to have cards in the real game that could do that?
People have tossed around teh idea of "Trap" cards for a while, but not so much freeplay cards.

So what do you think of these "Quickplay" cards. Cards that can be used during either players turn.
Endpoint. Discuss.

The game multiplayer code cannot support 2 players acting at the same time. We can experience simultaneous AI and player combat because the AI is on your computer. We cannot expect players to travel across the country/globe just to use the same terminal (PC) to enable simultaneous player combat.

Aww, cmon now.
The tech might not be up to par, but in the meantime, might we discuss the possibilities anyways?

EtG uses the high tech equivalent of playing chess by mail. The game is sent to player 1. Only when player 1 is done with their turn will player 2 receive the updated game status. To prevent this delay from causing massive desync problems, the game forbids simultaneous player actions.

Going with the "chess by mail" mechanic, it seems that playing on opponents turn directly wouldnt work out. But "trap" cards would be an interesting alternative. They would be played and targeted on your turn and get triggered when the opponent performs a particular action. For added fun they should be face down until activated (perhaps revealable using precognition). It would definitely add a new level of complexity to the game.
Some ideas:
Seal of counterspel - counters next non-permanent spell opponent plays
Rebuttal of frost - next time opponent uses a creature ability it becomes frozen for 3 rounds
Mark of vengence - target one of your creatures if that creature is damaged / killed on opponents turn it deals x damage to opponent

options are boundless and it would force players to consider a bit before playing... might make it more difficult to build a good ai player though

If your zombie plan is
kill -9 `ps l | awk '{print $2" "$3" "$9}' | grep "Z" | awk '{printf("%s ",$2)}'`
