This is definitely something that should not get out of hand. I'm envisioning maybe 1 creature per element, perhaps 2 for some. And bonuses should be kept to a minimum...I see them being attached to vanilla creatures, for the most part.

This is a good point. I will borrow this concept for the next CCC competition.

D'oh, only just read this after already creating one for the current competition....

If the affinity idea is dead certain to be a CCC competition, I'll withdraw this card from the current one and post it again when this competition gets done, otherwise will leave it for now as already posted...

I fact I was hoping to make  :fire and  :air ones myself. I guess I will stick to just an :air one and figure out another idea for a second card.

Oh good, I was purposefully avoiding the Affinities. Perhaps I shall continue doing so...it's good practice at critter-creation.

Sorry OldTrees :s although the feeling I get with these comps is we all make loads, but only submit a few? So unless you have 3 other ideas you might as well create a  :fire one too! I wouldn't mind, and would like to see your ideas :)

It is no problem. They were your idea first. I think I will still make the :air one but make it more than just the affinity [wait and see what that means].

However I must warn you that the CCC competitions are not with the intent to make loads and submit few.
Rather the competitions is with the mindset of creating and submitting a few really high quality cards that then fight for the title. This acts like a preliminary but focused crucible (without silly voting for art or author problems)

ah, ok, perhaps I exaggerated. I think what I meant is that we all create a few possibilities, and as you say, have a pre vote for the best to give it a boost when entering Crucible (and other ideas perhaps not? As for example me, I'm not sure I'll submit my Thicket Trap). I did not mean we all create loads of cards randomly without thought. I'd write more, but don't want to hijack this thread!

Back to topic, is my creature something you/people in general thought would be used for affinity? It was nice to try work this into a card :)

Yeah it fits how I expected Affinity to be used.
Although I am not sure now if +2|-1 is fair compared to +1|0. Perhaps +2|-2?

It might work better if for now we think of Affinity as any mild boost to a creature based solely on your Mark. I don't want to see any "gains invincibility and +over9000|+toinfinityandbeyond" type deals. I think most of you get the general idea already. Remember, the only reason I started using the Affinity mechanic in the first place was just to flesh out balancing. There was no concrete table of bonuses one could refer to. So I say: use your own judgment for now, refer to the table if you need it. OT's done a good job but it's far from finished.

Sorry to disappoint but my idea for Air did not meet my standard. It looked to artificial.
The idea was to have Affinity combined to an off element skill.
Like:
Air Affinity
 :death: Poison
However I couldn't come up with a reasonable uncontroversial 2nd effect that was balanced as a semi vanilla and wasn't a duo already.
