This is community thing... meaning I don't intend to use any card ideas that come from it. It's just something I think should be looked into.

I was going through and checking which elements haven't had any updates in a while, and what synergy could possibly use further exploration... and I realized that Earth and Water are both near the top of that list, and have only one existing connection with the weapon Poseidon.

I immediately thought: Earth creature that uses  :water, but that might not be the best idea.

So people, should it be a permanent, a creature, or a spell. And what thematic and mechanic bridges could connect the two elements?

Just throwing thoughts out there...maybe some sort of soil creature that gains attack/defense based on the presence/number of water creatures in play (irrigation)?

An interesting idea for a Earth/Water synergy would be to make an Earth card that aided Field cards in some manner. Such as for flooding, a new Earth card akin to "Climate Shift: Amplify and enhance the effects of Field cards."

For flooding I'm not sure what it could do, perhaps it could make the last 5 areas of the field 'shallow' water, whereby being all non-water non-nautral creatures

Of course the flip side would to make this not a forced combination. Which would be as simple as adding several other field cards in the same vein as Flooding, and then adding a climate shift to them.

Perhaps something for Air like "Tempest: Deal 1 damage to all non-air creatures on the field each turn." Or for Fire, like "Volcanic Turf: Whenever a Fire card is played, deal 2 spell damage to a random creature/player." Perhaps it could even work for Nightfall/Eclipse as well.

I might flesh out a couple cards in full depicting this kind of synergy, if I feel sufficient inspiration. But the general idea would give earth and water a synergy

I have Geyser | Geyser in crucible right now.
An earth permanent that can produce :water , or flood the center each turn.

Something to move burrowed creatures into flooded regions would be cool (since they automatically survive flooding while burrowed).

Another idea:
Stalactites (earth permanent)
:water Deposit: Add 2 spikes
If a pillar is destroyed, sacrifice this card to deal 2 damage per spike to opponent

Mud Golem (water creature or earth creature ... either works really)
Iceborne: Gains +3|+3 per turn and has a 33% chance to attack while frozen / delayed.

-Obvious synergy with both freeze / congeal and BB.


Underworld River: (earth permanent)
Burrowed creatures gain +2 attack and may move to a new slot upon burrowing while flooding is in effect.

-Gives burrows a damage bump and allows them to be moved out of the way during flooding to make room for new arrivals in the precious unflooded region.
Thats some pretty big synergy with water I think.


Murky Water
Creatures in flooded slots are invisible. Earth creatures will not drown but may miss their attacks.

So you're saying that a card like hematite golem that synergizes with rage potion is better than some :earth creature that uses :fire to grow? What about an earth creature that gets benefits from being frozen? Or is that forced combo?
