Well, a brief drop by on chat turned into a very deep design discussion that shows that this project has many flaws and is much more disorganized than I thought. Thematic conflicts ranging from the imbalance of Earth, to lack of uniformity in Cthonic's mechanic, the fact that underground/aboveground conflict actually kills quite a bit of design space, and suggestions that Genesis counters could work in Cthonic as well as Gaian.
As it is, the project's a mess.
I think we need to reformat how this project is going to work, if we are to get more input from normal users. Here's what I am planning to do:
- Lock the Community Card Design 2 Thread, due to lack of attention.
- Replace it with a Gaian vs. Cthonic Community Card Design Thread. That will be our 'main post' in which the overall set is dicussed.
- Have 2-6 separate threads in design theory - 1 for each faction/cardtype combination at most (at least, we need cthonic/gaian thread split). If 20-ish pages are any indication, we need to split up development so people don't have to dive through tons of pages just to find what they are looking for.
What probably will be kept :
- Genesis Counters in some form
- Theme of Gaian vs Cthonic/Nature vs. Technology
What probably needs to be reworked:
- Cthonic's defining mechanic.
- The setting of the conflict, thematics vs. design.
- Elements each faction covers.
- Is factionless present?
- Where do the two factions meet in terms of design?
- Probably a lot more.
