What deck/card combo can do this?

I was playing an opponent and he had summoned 12 cockatrices in play.
he did this in 2 rounds summoning them 6 at a time.
i was able to counter it using rain of fire.

2 rounds later while only having 2 cards + 1 drawn from his deck = 3

he summoned 6 more.

and he was still left with 2 or 3 cards at the end of his turn.
