Title: Upgrade order?
Post by: GodsRott on June 15, 2014, 10:02:09 pm
What should I upgrade first in this deck, or is it worth upgrading this deck at all? Was thinking of using it in silver/gold if its worth upgrading. Any suggestions welcome.

I would suggest Lycans first (drops the ability cost, which is major for a novabow), followed by Quantum pillars, followed by everything else.

With some big changes (you have way too many QP's, no control and inefficient attackers), you'll have Antabow, which is one of the best unupped Bronze and Silver farmers. HBGB is only a few mods away from that and is one of the best unupped Half-Blood killers. That said, Grabbows don't gain a great amount from upgrades; only some speed, it doesn't change that they're good for.

Going for a Supernova deck such as The Bone Collector will give you the best shardless Silver grinder. That's what I would advise if you like rainbows.

like higu said grabbows need some control to farm arena efficiently at most they need 7 quantum pillars. 2 cards from each elemnt dependent on its cost so therefore drop two forest spirits and replace one with either a cheaper more efficient attacker or just leave it at one  life card. using forest spirit means you have no space for any water cards. Drop the dagger and the phase spider. Replace the phase spider for 2 lightnings. get a fog shield in there or tke my approach and use a thunderstorm and a shockwave from air. raplce the pegasus with a blessing or sanctuary dependent on what you want to do with the deck. rplace the charger with momentum or two for shield avoidance. try and get some pc in there best option is to replace the lava golem with two deflagrations. if there is any space left add in card from elements you don't use.

As for upgrades the only card that would really benefit is the two lycans as grabbows are not the most efficient gold farmers in the world without a slightly different approach.

As for Grabbows, I've ran quite a few upped variants, and they benefits the most from the aforementioned speed increase of course.

All you need to go is observe each upgrade if you're sticking with this deck, which you can do in the upgrade screen (without actually upgrading). I'll list 'em for ya.

Graboid -> Elite Graboid: +2 attack
Phase Spider -> Phase Recluse: +3 attack, +1 cost
Sapphire Charger -> Elite Charger: +3 attack (best upgrade)
Flesh Spider -> Flesh Recluse: +3 attack (strictly better than Elite Mummy)
Forest Spirit -> Forest Spectre: +1 attack, +2 HP, +1 cost (very useful since Forest Spirit is so initially weak to CC, but means you might not wanna pack more than 2 Spectres)
Lava Golem -> Lava Destroyer: +2 attack
Pegasus -> Elite Pegasus: +1 attack, +2 HP (means +2 attack when diving)
Lycanthrope -> Werewolf: -1 :darkness cost (useless for you in this deck)
Dagger -> Dirk: +2 attack
Nova -> Supernova: x2 quanta, +2 :entropy cost (doesn't work in a Grabbow as you'll want Entropy mark to be sure you get :entropy early, but since you run so many QP's, you could get away with as many as 2 Supernovas)
Quantum Pillar -> Quantum Tower: +3 random quanta when played (adds more speed than you might think)

There are several immediate optimizations you can do to make this a pure Grabbow rush. Here's an example: http://elementscommunity.org/forum/rainbow-decks/hurrybow/
Note that I'm using Arsenic for a weapon as it climbs in damage very fast and enables a soft way around shields. If you don't have one, you still have several better options than Dirk, such as Longsword or Gavel.
