Title: Underworld deck building challenge!
Post by: LongDono on July 03, 2011, 12:10:12 am
Hello, as you may or may not know I was a member of team underworld in war #3 of elements.
For those that do not know underworld was the 13th team in war, and unlike the other 12 teams was not limited on what elements it could use, however they had one great weakness...... they could only play 3 of any card.

You may feel free to take part in this challenge as well. The Goal is to use every card and only use up to 3 of the same cards in a deck. For a card to be crossed off the list as "used" there must be 3 copies of it in a deck. You may ONLY use 3 of any card other than pillars and pendulums.

There have been several successful UW decks that contain cards not in your list. I would suggest removing it and filtering out as much opinion as possible.

I built quite a few decks before war 3, some of which met UW restrictions. Except a few which I have adapted for PvP1, they're all tucked away in a hidden folder. All of these are secret until I get the chance to compete in war myself :)

I am open to a suggestion for a card to be added to the list, however just because it has been used by Underworld and done very well will not mean it will make it on my list, it has to fit into many decks very well, so golden dragon will be very hard to get in yet it was part of DOTK a very good deck, understand?
Going back to sleep now then work, then I will work on this thread.

lol, I'm obviously not referring to Dragons. Just because your team did not use a card successfully/at all doesn't mean the previous UW did not, and it doesn't mean future members of UW cannot use those cards successfully either. It works the other way as well of course :)

I won't ask you to change the list, but do keep in mind that it could take away some fun in this thread if the card pool is not more open.

This is deck 1 and clears throne shield thingy. XD

@ddevans: I believe I said I am open to a suggestion for a card to be added to the list. Dragons were just an example. Also I never said other cards could not be successful but these cards ( I might have missed one or two ) have either been proven or have the ability to be great in this type of deck building. Also I believe I explained why a dragon was an example.
"it has to fit into many decks very well, so golden dragon will be very hard to get in yet it was part of DOTK a very good deck"
This is not about how successful a card can be in one deck.

Well then let me ask you a question: What criteria are you using to decide these cards? Personal opinion? Statistics?

History and personal belief.

I think you should have no card restrictions, but use a set number of decks with a set number of different cards instead(i am also surprised you missed lava golems on the list, considering how good was our immo deck).

History? Then how can you set a card with a grand total of one copy in one UW deck that lost (aka Thorn Carapace) in the list?

I was just thinking of that.
@ddevans, there is more history than just that of underworld.

@everyone, I decided to take away the card list.

Sad to see that you removed the list. I would have been up for a challenge.

Anyway, I've built a deck I call the "UW Quaking Grabowinder".
The strategy is basically the same as in the normal Quaking Grabowinder, but this one is limited to the 3 copies of each card. Filling the empty spots are for one EA's to protect either your Pends, your Eternity or both, depending on what your opponent is using and how many Protects you draw.
There are now also two Stone Dragons present in the deck. Whenever you have excess quanta, there is nothing better than having a spare Dragon lying around. They also help when you are facing Wings or CC spam.

I was also experimenting with adding a shield, but it never really helped much, having the PA's in there is more important and removing a creature wouldn't be a good choice either since the deck is already pretty low on them.
