Suffering from monotony.... https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=5610.msg57070#msg57070

Hi there,

I'm getting bored with playing mono life on my second account.

It seems that mono life's success range limited to AI3 and T50 due to a lack of perm and creature control. I'm wondering if anyone has made any effective duo Life decks that work well against AI5 and might inspire me.

All the decks I've built in the trainer fall short... as my sig. says, i build lop sided decks, a skill that will hopefully improve with experience.

Any mark is fine, but I'd like to use some of my upped life cards if possible.

I'll be happy to have a new goal to grind towards.
Thanks for any forthcoming ideas,

KP
OOPS... apologies, I just realized I should have posted this in deck help...sorry folks

Baily thanks for taking the time to reply.

Were you thinking of an upped FFQ or the bare back variety?  Depending on that, there would be unexploited quanta generated by the FFs that could help address the permanent control issue or alternatively offset the effects of infections, plagues or offensive shields.

Your brief reply has stimulated an angle of inquiry I will try out in the trainer. Thanks!

More ideas, links or deck codes are welcome...

Incidentally, any already upped cards I have are here:

Code: [Select]
5bs 5bs 5bs 5bu 5bu 5bu 5bu 5bu 5bu 5c0 5c2 5c2 5c2 5c3 5c5 5c7 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ac 7ag 7ag 7ag 7an 7an 7an 7an
This deck whips AI3 and is satisfactory against top 50 decks but is missing the control needed to have a decent win percentage against AI5.

My deck building budget is currently a meager 3000+ electrum and i also have 6 arctic squid I intend selling to generate enough for 1 more upgrade.

Cheers, KP

Btw do you have a FG killer, if not sell some of those upped cards to make one which will help you in the long run.

That deck in the link looks fun to play, it is nice to  read through the discussion of the mechanics.
I'll make it in the trainer and see how I go with it.

This account I'm playing is only 6 days old so I haven't got a deck together to tickle gods much less tackle them.  I'm still trying to figure a reasonable progression from AI3 to AI5 that doesn't bore me to tears or mess up my reasonable win/loss ratio (86%)

When I started playing 2 months ago i saved up and assembled SG's unupped FG deck but didn't really connect with it and tweaked it in unspeakable ways until I could afford Puppy Chows.  I ended up tweaking that one until it too was unrecognizable.  I did learn a lot from the process as you should in 7000 games.  I've come to think that without a fully upped and finely tuned FG deck, it's not profitable to farm gods in the current 1.21 landscape. Hence why I didn't go rainbow as soon as i had a few coins and some random cards from spins.

I'm going with the theory that a solid 30-35 card duo deck will hold it's own in AI5 and be faster than the ride down hourglass alley and endlessly reversing with eternity to avoid the deck out doldrums.

Well thanks and I'm off to the trainer again, don't be shy if you know more decks that show promise  ;)

Flying vamp daggers
Eclipsed and aderalined does 17 damage + heal =)

An example of good un-upped AI5 grinder is mono aether
How about  duo that with phase shield to stall, fractal ur frogs / cockatrice? and spam!!!

Thanks for more useful ideas! I spent an hour or so in the trainer trying to balance things with life/aether also life/entropy with mark of darkness.... I'm notoriously cr@ppy at sorting that out so I'll keep on trying till i get it flowing.  I'm open to more input, so far it's helping.

I got pm'd this deck which looks good and will test in the trainer when i get a chance.
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,4485.0.html  I'm pretty sure it would fail semi-upped, but I can try it anyway to see if it's worth saving for.

This is a deceptively simple deck that is well-honed for taking out AI5s, and can get masteries about a third of the time.  You play phat beatsticks, you Steal your opponent's shields/weapons, you heal up with Heal, Druid Staff, and sometimes Liquid Shadow on your Dragons, and you disrupt annoying enemy skills like Paradox with Liquid Shadow and annoying enemy creatures with Thorn Carapace.

Enjoy!
If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

Since you have a bunch of green cards, let me recommend this thread:
http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,5686.0.html

In order to do well at AI5 you need a way to get rid of shields.   Darkness offers this.   In fact, I'd recommend fewer 1-2 fewer adrenline to add 1-2 more steals.   I'd also drop the bonds for either druid staff or the  :darkness dagger.

The one issue with AI5 is that if you don't beat it fast and you do not remove creatures, you will eventually be overrun with creatures.   Stealing a good shield will become critical to success.
