Wil this modified Water/death poison deck work? https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=2867.msg24023#msg24023
« on: February 07, 2010, 08:04:34 pm »
I've only been playing this game for a week or two, and I got addicted to it. Recently. I convinced my girlfriend to join elements recently, and she decided she wanted to play with a water and death combination. We came across the speed poison deck, but we quickly found out that she had trouble with it against most of the AI3 decks, as well as some of the ones I made. She was about to quit the game in frustration, so I offered her to upgrade her deck to not rely solely on poisoning.
So I came up with this deck, and meed some input on how to streamline this deck, and possible suggestions on how to improve it more to make the game more fun for her. Please don't include rare cards or upgraded cards, since she's no where near that.

The mark we used is water.

Also, should she replace the short sword with an owl's eye when she reaches the 500 score. or is it better to pick a different weapon?

Owl's Eye is an Air element weapon, though.

For the 500 score weapon, I would recommend choosing either Eternity or Pulverizer, though I would lean towards Eternity a bit more, as it's an important component of the new False God farming decks.

What's wrong with the 30-card Water speed farmer? It's really, really good.

The deck you have here is mediocre. I'd recommend farming with the 30-Card water/death farmer, getting an Eternity as your weapon, then accumulating enough Electrum to buy a FG Rainbow.

Whoops, I meant eternity. I was aiming for owl's eye for myself... but thanks for the correction

Well, like I said, she doesn't have much luck using that deck, and I usually out damage her.

Eternity or Pulverizer.  I find that Pulvy wins me far more games than Eternity ever would.

Honestly, the deck is decent, but could get much better with these steps: Remove the Short Sword and four Bone Pillars.  Add two Sapphire Pillars.   Switch to Death Mark.

Use the Mark to power the Poisons and Chrysoras, and the occasional Bone Pillar to use more than one Chrysora at a time.

You'll draw more Dragons, more Freezes, and more Water Quanta.

You could prolly even farm t50 with the slimmer version.  Then just go on chat and ask someone from t50 to post an Arsenic farm, and get a couple of Arsenics to boost your poison potential even higher.  :)

If something happens and you think it deserves my attention, feel free to PM me. Other than that, I'm probably here if you want to shoot the breeze.

Thank you very much for this feedback.
You were right, the deck performs better now, although I'm unsure if you meant to make this a 30 card deck or not, since it's now 31 cards large.
In case this is supposed to be a 30 card deck, which card should I remove?
I'll leave the arsenic farming up to her though.

Currently, the deck looks like this:

How can the speed poison deck not work for her? It's not possible, unless she is really doing something wrong.

Just to make sure you have the right poison deck...

Mark of Water
6 Chrysaora
6 Freeze
12 Bone Tower
6 Poison

Simply freeze any threatening creatures, and use every Chrysaora every turn to poison your enemy. It's a very simple deck to use, so how can it not work? What are the exact problems she has with AI3?
To be or not to be, I can do both at once. Go learn quantum mechanics, n00b.

That's the deck we used.
The problem seems to be that more than half of the time, she gets outswarmed by monsters, or she gets an enemy that heals too often. She hasn't been able to beat any of my decks either.
I told her how to freeze enemies, and she claims she only freezes significant threats, and she does indeed use poison whenever possible, since she's played against me often enough.
Maybe she just had terrible luck with opponent selection, but she doesn't want to play with the speed poison deck by itself, and therefore I made these modifications.

Yeah, I've gotta say, I never liked the unupped Speed Poison deck.  I never had any luck until I had upgraded the Chrysora and the Poisons.  It just got out-beatdowned by too many of the t50 decks.

And re:31 cards, yeah, I've started playing mostly 31-card decks in my t50 grinders, just to keep from decking out against other 30 card decks.  It's a silly conceit; if you want to trim it down to 30 I'd remove a Freeze.
