Devour your opponent! https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=20861.msg265738#msg265738
« on: February 06, 2011, 07:54:29 pm »
I was thinking about this:
Code: [Select]
5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5ul 5ul 5ul 5ul 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5up 5up 5up 5us 5us 5us 5us 5us 5us 5us 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61t 61t 61t 61v 61v 622 622 622You basically use devourers to eat opponents quantum, then with all the darkness you have kill with dragons and life drain.
Fractal is for using more devourers

Any comments?

Needs a Nightfall or two so you can use the full strength of your Devours. Switch the mark to :darkness so it works better. You don't need to protect your Devours, and you could only burrow one a turn..

You don't need so many Drain Lifes for CC, since Devtal will slow your opponent down.
Also, I think you have 7 Drain Lifes in your deck so..
Take them all out except for 2.
-1 Steal
Get rid of all the Aether cards except for 5 Fractals.
Get rid of 1 Devourer.
Change your mark to Aether and split your pillars into half pends.

Final:
x6 Pillars
x6 Pends
x4 Dragons
x5 Devourers
x5 Fractals
x2 Steals
x2 Drain Lifes

I can tell you right now that this concept has been done many, many times before, however I can also tell you that I have not seen it done this way before.

First:  Your deck looks huge.  With 46 cards and only three Fractals, the odds of you drawing one (a key cog to your deck) before your opponent outdistances your ability to deprive them of quanta is not good at all.  Also, and I'm not quite sure how you did it, but you seem to have gotten seven copies of Drain Life into your deck image.  Even with assuming that you intended to have six, rather than seven, that still puts you at 45 cards, which is too much.

Second:  Your mark isn't doing nearly enough for your deck.  Yes, I fully understand that you want to be able to protect your devourers, but at the same time your mark should be powering the most vital parts of your deck, since it can never be destroyed.  In your case, I would most likely change it to  :aether.

Third:  Your strategy looks to be spread too thin.  Are you a rush?  Are you a stall?  While you should have lots of  :darkness quanta due to your devourers, Drain Life is simply not the most effective way to use that quanta.  If you are concerned about lack of healing, I would suggest subbing out your dragons (all 6) for Minor Vampires.  If you want bigger hitters, I would recommend Gargoyles.  Hell, you could even go 3 and 3 if you wanted, and utilize whichever the particular game dictates.  Point is, with Fractal, all you need is one copy of a creature out in order to have an army at your beck and call.

With all that being said, if I would design your deck would be this:
Code: [Select]
5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5ut 5ut 5ut 5uv 5uv 5uv 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 61o 622 622 622 622
At the end of the day, though, it's your deck.  Play with it, make it fit you and have fun with it.  That is far and away the most important advice I can give you.

Hmm, i just noticed there were seven drain lifes.
yeah, there are 7 because I don't have all these cards.
I only wanted to buy one of each card to save electrum by asking you guys about the deck.
So then I used the import/export button to view what code was used for what card.
I guess I accidently copied too many life drains :o

I would rather use dragons/vamps just because I run the risk of my opponents having death/dark cards, in which case it wouldn't help me much.Wonder:

Well, Drain Life wasn't just CC, because you can target the opponent directly... but I guess I could do without some.
I like this deck, definitely a possibility...Mithcairion:

I don't see how gargoyles will help, but I like the vamp idea.
So far its in between this idea and the previous one...
And thanks a lot for the advice! I'm going to start testing these decks right now!

So, no shields, weapons, or other aether cards everyone agrees??

Adding Nightfall would boost this deck pretty much, switch 'em for Phase Dragons would maybe be a good idea?

Well, darkness can turn to be very versatile, and you could even break the "30-card" rule. But you must explain what is this deck for (PvP, AI5, AI6 -too slow for AI3-).

If it is for PvP, you should try 31/32-card. My idea is pretty similar to Mithcairion's:
Code: [Select]
5uk 5uk 5uk 5uk 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5uo 5uo 5up 5up 5uq 5uq 5ut 5ut 606 606 606 606 606 606 61o 61o 61o 61o 622 622 622 6222xAnti deckout if the damage isn't enough
2xVamps to heal+damage (upped work 3xbetter)
2xHaxx Mantle for defence
2xNightfall since you have only low attackers (Eclipse works 3xbetter)

For AI5/AI6 you should try upped, since it would be pretty hard to make it otherwise.
I have made a deck some time ago, and it worked like a charm (it's fully upped, so beware), the link (http://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php/topic,13759.msg185471#msg185471)
