Devotosis with Vamps (Editted!) https://elementscommunity.org/forum/index.php?topic=29016.msg370389#msg370389

Alright, so I made the suggested changes, and played about 20 practice matches against an AI3. It was pretty good, but I feel like it could still do with a bit of polishing. So here goes.

Deck Records:
20 matches
17 wins
10 EMs
3 losses
Fastest Win: 108s|11 Turns

Some problems I noticed:
1) Plague and RoF murder this deck. Also, anything with Devour seems to give me issues...
2) Shields are problematic sometimes, due to the size of the deck and low-powered summons (Added a pair of Steals to remedy that, but is there a more effective way of dealing with it?)
3) I've been experiencing some issues with bad draws. One or two is understandable, and statistically expected, but I had a few more than I had anticipated...

I would also like a bit of help deciding which cards I should upgrade first. I've decided the account with this deck is the one I'm going to use for Arena, so keep that in mind. :3

Thanks to pikachufan2164 for his contributions to modifying this deck. :33

(Side note: for what purpose are you using this deck for? PvP? AI3? Halfbloods? Arena? Different playing environments require different strategies.)

It looks like your deck is too large, and lacks focus.

Drain Life works too slowly in this kind of deck and should probably be removed -- without Devourer support and/or playing mono-Darkness, you're not going to get enough :darkness quanta to charge them up too well. The Empathic Bonds can go too, as they're also quite slow and you don't have enough creatures to take advantage of the healing.

For your supporting Life spell, you have two options: Adrenaline, or Mitosis. It's best to choose only one and focus on it.

If you choose Adrenaline (probably around 5 or 6 copies), then play with Minor Vampires and Nightfall (not Eclipse, as 3 attack is a sweet spot for Adrenaline). Consider adding Cloak as a way to protect your creatures from being killed.

If you choose Mitosis (probably around 4 or 5 copies), then add Devourers and Nightfall/Eclipse for the Devtosis combo (5-6 Devourers, 3 Vampires) -- play a Devourer and use Mitosis on it to make more copies and slow your opponent down. Once you have around 8 or so Devourers in play, start using Mitosis on Vampires for a win condition. If you choose to play with Mitosis, then using Empathic Bonds are a possibilty, but only because filling your board is possible.

The quanta base could probably be streamlined a bit more as well. Take a Life mark and work out a balance of Obsidian Pillars and Dark Pendulums -- that should smooth out your quanta generation.

Thanks for the feedback! I had already trimmed it down quite a bit after reading some of the other threads, and I think I'm getting a bit more of a feel for what it needs to look like... I'd eventually like to be able to use it in Arena, but the thought of an all-purpose deck, if there were such a thing, is rather appealing....

I actually was using a combination of vamps and devs before, but it was kind of "eh". Probably because I wasn't playing it right.

On a side note, Devtal (Devourers + Vampires + Fractal) is a very potent denial deck for PvP when played correctly. Here's a sample build:

Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5uq 5uq 5ut 5ut 5ut 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 622 622 622 622 622 7tb 8pu

First Fractal goes towards Devourers to achieve at least a partial lockdown of quanta, and then Fractal the Vampires for a win condition.

I actually used to run a build pretty close to that, except it was way more aether heavy. It was beautiful. :3

I would personally suggest trying to fit less in the deck and focusing more on the main concept: Devourers and Vampires + Mitosis.
This deck for example draws at least 2 Pendulums quite reliably, getting a Devourer by turn 2 and a Mitosis on it by turn 3 or 4.
Hover over cards for details, click for permalink
Deck import code : [Select]
5c6 5c6 5c9 5c9 5c9 5c9 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5um 5up 5up 5uq 5uq 5ut 5ut 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 606 8pn
You would probably want to change it so you get more out of it, but having most quanta rely on pendulums and a bit from Devourers provides a much stabler deck than a 33 card deck with all sorts of quanta sources. If you don't get a Devourer out by turn 2 you're usually slacking behind with a slow start. You have to deny as early as possible before the opponents' quanta goes out of control.

For changing cards in this the Empathic Bonds and Steals are the least required for this deck. Dusk Mantle, Vampire Dagger and maybe a fifth Mitosis are all good options to add to the deck.
