Title: Need help naming and improving this one - Cat / Boneyard combo
Post by: OdinVanguard on February 03, 2012, 04:34:02 am
I'm thinking something like: Faster Pussy Cat KILL KILL or Schorodinger's Grave Digger

It seems to work alright, but something is missing to make it a great deck and I cant say what.

I can see instantly that you'll definitely be short on :darkness. Perhaps remove all the darkness cards besides a few, power them off your mark, and use entropy pillars.

I see your point... which ones should I keep though? I definitely need nightfall. Maybe just that one?

Definetly throw dusk mantle out. That is way too expensive to be effective. You might need steal for PC, or you can disregard PC completely. I mean, you have BE if you really want PC. 5 boneyards are too much. 1 bonewall is too little. 3-4 bone yard and 2 bone wall would probably be better. Discord isn't that great. Vamprie stiletto and arsenic are better choices. Either way, you should have at least five-seven amethyst pillars so you can continuously cast the cat's ability each turn. You do have to be careful though, your cats are the main focus of the deck and they're really susceptible to CC.

You're gonna get a lot of death quanta with all those cats; I would throw in a few bone dragons in there.

Having Vultures instead of Graveyards makes the deck less vulnerable to shield blocking - a single chield blocks all cats and skeles, but no fat vultures - for the same  :death cost. This way, you can replace the Nightfalls for something more useful, like Plagues or a pair of  :entropy pilars. The choice between Dusk mantle and Bonewall is quite hard, but it's not a bad choice.

If you insist on keeping the :darkness cards, call it "Black Cats"  ;D

Ooh. Black cats. I like that one.

I still don't know why you have Boneyards instead of Vultures. Vultures helps bypassing shields.

True... unless the boneyards are upgraded, vultures are better, since they're less vulnerable to damaging CC and equals to all skeletons absorbed in one...
a 3/3 split would be good enough if you want some board fillers to be mass-buffed by nightfall, as more than 3 boneyards will go waste once you fill the board.

3/3 split might work. I was trying to make a rush deck using an even mix of cat + boneyard to maximize dps increase per round. Board fillers buffed by nightfall was the basic idea. In the long run, of course, vultures would win out though.
In the end it just might not be feasible since skellies and cats are so easy to kill, so it might just be too vulnerable both to cc and pc.
I was hoping I could get a fast enough rush to compensate.

Also, I was trying to make this a purely unupped deck. But graveyard + eclispse definitely makes for nastier skellies - harder to kill and much better punch.

Why are people concerned with shields blocking skele damage? Isnt butterfly effect and steal there exactly for that reason? Personally I would go with maybe one less cat, one less soulcatcher, add a bone dragon, add a butterfly effect. It would probably help if I spent more time testing but I do like the idea other than the 3 color thing.
